Katherine was born November 9, 1923, in
Asheville, North Carolina. She was a devoted
military wife to the late William J. “Bill” Roark and
a loving mother to her children Dan and Becky.
The family was stationed at various military bases
around the world and called Columbus home
after Bill retired from the US Army in 1971.
Katherine worked on base at Fort Benning Dental
Clinic No. 3 until her retirement in 1988. She was
a member of Edgewood Presbyterian Church of Columbus where
she enjoyed being a member of the Lively Ones and baking cakes
for family night suppers. Her love of travel also took her to many
fun places, of which her favorite trips were the cruises with her
friends to the Carribean and Alaska. Katherine loved her family
and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and especially loved
her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Presley Allison
and Ernest B. Allison; her husband, William J. Roark; and her
daughter, Rebecca Walburn. Katherine’s loving memory is to be
cherished by her son, Dan Roark; her daughter‐in‐law, Martha
Jane Roark of Columbus; her grandchildren: Shane Walburn of
Michigan, Joe Walburn of Alaska, Allison Grainger and her
husband Wendell of Aiken, South Carolina; and her great‐
granddaughters: Hannah and Leah Grainger of Aiken, South
Carolina.
