✞ Hymn - Hark, the Herald Angels Sing
Hark, the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations, rise, Join the triumph of the skies;
With th’angelic host proclaim, “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Hark, the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King.”

Christ, by highest heaven adored; Christ, the everlasting Lord!

Late in time behold Him come To the earth from heaven’s home.
Veiled in flesh the God-head see; Hail th’incarnate Deity,
Pleased in flesh with us to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel,
Hark, the herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King.”

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail, the sun of righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings, Risen with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by, Born that we no more may die,
Born to raise us from the earth, Born to give us second birth.
Hark, the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King.”
Lighting of the Advent Wreath
Leader: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. Through him, all things were
made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not
understood it. Light is the symbol of creation. In the beginning,
God said,

People: Let there be Light!

Leader: Light is the symbol of Christ’s coming to earth.

Jesus said,

People: I am the Light of the World!

Leader: Light is the symbol of God’s presence in us. Each

believer is told

People: Let your Light shine!

Unison and Silent Prayers of Confession

Creator God, You created the earth, whole and good; You
created us to be whole people. But we have become Call to
fragmented, cracked and broken. We have been broken by Confession:
false promises, lost relationships, shattered trust. We have Hebrews 10:22
become cracked with the experience of systemic sin:
prejudice, oppression and fear. We have become
fragmented, building up walls instead of lending hands.
Forgive us when we have done the breaking, heal us where
we have been hurt. Let Your light shine through our cracks
Affirmation of
and scars so that we might bring light to the world, showing Grace:
that in You we are made whole. In You we find healing. In 1 Thessalonians
You we find renewed life. Help us to forgive, to love, to 5:23
mend.
Scripture Response - O Little Town of Bethlehem | vs. 4
Response: O holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in, Be born in us today.
Leader: We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell;
This is the Word O come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel. Amen.

Message | Look Who's Serving

(John 13:1-5, 12-17) - Pastor Jim Zippay
✞ Hymn - Away In A Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the poor Baby wakes,

But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask Thee to stay

Close by me forever and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with Thee there.
