DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN

Number: DSB19-0003 Date: 03/08/2019 Supersedes: New

Title: 30RB/XA/XW EXV Board Changes

MODEL CATEGORY: Chillers (30 Series)

MODELS AFFECTED:
Carrier: 30RB, 30XA, 30XW
Serial Number(s): N/A

SITUATION:
Due to component obsolescence, a redesign of the ProDialog IV EXV Board was
completed. This board, Carrier Part Number 00PSN500038200A is used on the 30RB,
30XA Standard units as well as 30XW.

There were several changes to the board in this design revision.

 A new microprocessor is used.
 Redesigned power, communication and EXV Stepper Motor outputs to match the
SIOB design used on the 30XA Greenspeed and 30XV units.
 The Addressing DIP Switch changed from an 8-pole switch to a 4-pole switch.

The fit and function of the new EXV Board is the same. The Carrier Part Number
remains the same, however the vendor part number does change. The original board’s
vendor part number is CEPL130415-02. The new board’s vendor part number is
CEPL130415-03. There may be a suffix with the part number, such as
CEPL130415-03-R . This will not affect the instructions. Locations of the vendor part
number can be seen in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

With the new microprocessor, the EXV Board software was changed. The new
software, CESR131677-01.00 is not backward compatible with the old board, nor is the
old software, CESR-131361-01.01 compatible with the new board.

While the two boards perform the same function there are some changes to the
addressing DIP switches to allow for proper communications.

SOLUTION:
Whether replacing an old EXV Board, (CEPL130415-02) with the new EXV Board
(CEPL130415-03) or vice versa, the new board is an exact replacement for mounting
and connection. The addressing DIP Switches must be set correctly for proper
communication and operation. See Figure 1 and Figure 2 for Address DIP Switch
locations. See Table 1 below for addressing DIP Switch settings.

Parts/Kits:
As a result of the changes to the addressing DIP Switches, RC will be changing the
EXV to a kit number, which will include instructions and an overlay sticker to note the
address changes on the unit wiring diagram. The new kit number is 30RB660062.

We have also requested that RC discontinue stocking non-programmed EXV Boards to

avoid confusion in the field.
