ABSTRACT

This paper deals with the symbolic presentations of emojis in relation to human emotions.
It explores the factors that influence emojis and the concept of interpersonal relationship in view
of The Schachter-Singer Two-factor Theory of Emotion and The Social Presence Theory. This
study aims to determine the emojis that the participants’ associate with emotions, identify the
different reasons behind the participants’ choice of emojis, and determine the symbolic
presentations they put with emojis. The research design deemed appropriate to utilize in this
study is the Descriptive Qualitative Design. The data revealed that familial relationships and
intimate personal experiences are the symbolic representations which support the individual’s
association with emojis.
