Midterm Practical Exam Self-Assessment

For the following chart, please briefly explain your self-assessment in strengths, weaknesses and areas that you would like to
continue to grow in during the second half of the semester. Don’t be overly critical or excessively favorable of your abilities. These
are merely markers for how you feel you did this week during the first of two practical exams in this course. Please don’t spend more
than 5-15 minutes on this assignment. After you post this document to Blackboard (under assignments), your earned scores will be
posted on Blackboard by Friday, March 5th. Make sure to include an estimated percentage score!!

Things I think I did well
 I have a history of getting VERY
worked up before practical exams.
I walked in today pretending Dr.
Callaghan was my CI and that the
scenario he gave me was a patient
who presented on a clinical, rather
than a professor giving an
assessment. This helped me keep
my nerves (relatively) under
control.
 I offered rationale for my decisions
 I came into the exam WELL
PRACTICED.
Things I think I didn’t do so well
 Looking back I am not sure that I
had appropriate force vector during
1st rib mobilization (elbow might
have been out to the side)
 During a lower thoracic
mobilization I had a difficult time
flexing my patient down enough to
appropriately target the segment
 Quick thinking. For the thoracic
mobilization it took me a minute
and I needed to talk through my
though process to get from point A
to point B.
Areas of potential growth during the
last 8 weeks of class
 I feel I have a grasp on the ideas
of the techniques, but when they
are put into a case format I
struggle to select the appropriate
technique.
 I need practice ensuring my force
vector is lined up with the force
that I am applying.
 Continue practicing appropriate
speed and amplitude of various
mobilization grades
