ELIGIBILITY: FOR M.Phil and Ph.D DEGREE PROGRAMME: Candidates for admission to the M.Phil/Ph.D programme shall have a Masters degree or a professional degree recognized as equivalent to the Masters degree of Gulbarga University with not less than 55% marks or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency, which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. A relaxation of 5% of marks from 55% to 50%, shall be granted to those belonging to SC/ST/ Cat-I and also a candidate who completed Masters degree prior to 19th September, 1991. Eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above in these Regulations are permissible based only on the qualifying marks exclusive of the grace mark procedures, College teachers working on permanent basis for not less than Three years are eligible for MPhil/Ph.D Programe under part-time scheme. However, if they join the course with sanctioned leave under FIP for one year, their M.Phil registration shall be considered as full time. ADMISSION PROCEDURE, FOR M.Phil DEGREE PROGRAMME: Adinission to the M.Phil Program shall be through an entrance examination consisting of written test and interview conducted by the University. However, the candidates who are qualified for JRF Fellowship/UGC-NET/IRF, UGC-CSIR-NET/IRF, SLET, GATE, ‘Teacher Fellowship & Research Fellowship From Central & State Government Departments/Funding Agencies as approved by University shall be exempted from the Entrance test. FOR Ph.D. DEGREE PROGRAMME: Admission to Ph.D programme shall be through an entrance examination consisting of written test and interview conducted by the University. However candidates who have qualified JRF fellowships/UGC-NET/JRF, UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF, SLET, GATE, teacher fellowship and research fellowships from central (DST-Inspire Fellowship, RGNF, MAF and other Fellowships in sponsored projects) and state Government departments agencies as approved by the University, as the case may be, shall be exempted from the Entrance test. The candidates who have cleared the M.Phil, with course work examination with at least 55% marks in ageregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) as per UGC guidelines-2016, and successfully completed the M. Phil course are also exempted from the Entrance examination.Xi XU. XL. XIV. MODE OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR M.Phil/Ph. D PROGRAMME The entrance test shall consist of one paper of 100 Marks of 3 hours duration, The Board of Studies shall frame the syllabus for entrance test by giving equal weight to research methodology and concerned subject. The question paper shall contain 100 objective type questions carrying one mark each and no negative marking for wrong answers. The candidate has to mark the correct answer on the OMR sheet provided. The entrance test can be written cither in for various subjects in following version. + For Science & Technology all subjects, Commerce, Management; and Law will be in English version only. + For Social Science all subjects, Education, Physical Education, Music and Visual Art will be in both English & Kannada version + For Sanskrit Exams will be conduced in Kannada only. + For Kannada English, Hindi and Urdu subjects exams will be in respective languages. PREPARATION OF MERIT LIST: A candidate who is eligible shall be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test administered by the University. The minimum marks to be scored to qualify through the entrance test shall be 45% for SC/ST/Cat-I candidates and 50% in case of others. ‘The Chairperson of the department shall prepare the merit list of the candidate by taking 50% marks from PG course and 50% of Marks from entrance test. All the successful candidates shall be called for the interview before the interview board consisting of the Chairperson of the concerned Departments and all Research Supervisors, the committee shall assess the performance of candidate on the basis of importance of the Research proposal and the competence and suitability of the candidate. The interview has no marks. The successful completion in written test and appearance in an interview before a probable Guide(s) /Board shall not guarantee for an admission for M.Phil/Ph.D programme. APPLICATION FORM: The application form can be downloaded only from the University Website: www gug.ae.in. APPLICATION FEES: The application fees will be Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand only). For SC/ST and Category-I candidates 50% of the above fees with production of copies of Caste Certificate and fees has to be paid through online only. ‘The duly filled application forms for MPhil and Ph.D Degree Programme along with necessary documents are required to be submitted to the Chairpersons of Post-Graduate Department concerned on or before the last date. The candidate who are employed should submit their applications through their employers.XY. XVI. 10.
