Executive summary

After this activity has been completed we come across a wide range of newly discovered
information. We found that mechanical engineering has a wider range of job opportunities as a result
of our activities. For example, the engineer we interacted with is a piping division engineer which
we've never heard of it before. After having to hear from him, we understand that piping is not the
same as plumbing. This piping is handled by the oil and gas division, whereas the plumber's job is
limited to water pipes. As we know, when working in the oil and gas industry, safety is a top priority.
This is due to the fact that oil and gas management is a serious undertaking. Hazardous gases must
be present in gas-operated gas. As a result, if an accident occurs during the work process, the
consequences could be fatal. As a result, safety is prioritized, particularly when working offshore.
In terms of work, Mr. Hud advised a younger engineer to begin working as a mechanical
engineer for a small firm. This is because, prior to joining PETRONAS, he worked for two other
companies, each of which provided him with valuable experience. Being a leader, according to Mr.
Hud, is challenging. We need to know everything, even the smallest possible details. As a result, if
employees require our assistance as superiors, it will be convenient to assist them. Mr. Hud also
stated that in order to work in this field, we must have a diverse set of skills. For example, if we are
engineers in the inshore sector, we must also be mindful on in the offshore sector.
We also learned from this activity that UiTM is one of the universities that offers
workshops and laboratories for machine operation. Because most universities only assign theory to
their students, not all universities provide technical materials. As a result, because they are skilled at
operating machines, students from universities such as UiTM have an easier time finding work.
The last but not least, he advised us to work hard in class and ask a lot of questions
about what we do not understand. This will benefit us in our work. He stated that while we do not see
the value of the knowledge we acquire now, we will recognize its value when we require it in the
future. We should also look for a job that interests us. Mr. Hud has wanted to work in this field since
he was a child, so he has never considered his job to be a burden. He goes about his work with a
calm heart, never wanting to give up no matter what problems he encounters.
As the conclusion, we have agreed to say that the activities we have done so far have
been extremely beneficial to our future. This is due to the fact that our understanding of mechanical
engineering is growing. As a result, we are confident in our ability to continue in this field. The
presence of such activities can boost our confidence in approaching someone who is more
experienced and ranked. As a result, if we have the opportunity to work with them in the future, we will
find it easier to communicate with them. However, if observed again, this interview would be more
interesting if conducted face to face. This activity had to be completed online due to Covid-19. As a
result of the person being interviewer’s internet interruptions, there were a few things we missed.
However, we put a lot of what we learned from these activities into practice.
SITI MAIZATUL AKMA BINTI USLEY

The ability to design is one of my roles as an individual to fulfil the qualities of an engineer in the
future. The more advanced the world becomes, the more machines we have around us to assist us in
our daily activities. As a result, in order to improve the quality and quantity of work, more sophisticated
machines must be developed. As a result, everything is completed more quickly and easily. So, one
of the most important skills that an engineer should possess is design ability.

Next, as an engineer I should have a strong competitive edge. As we know, every country
competes to produce a wide range of technologies for the general public to use. Therefore, if an
engineer has a competitive attitude, various technologies that can be produced at the same time can
make a name for themselves on the global stage if their designs are successful. If we continue to
strive to be the best of the best, we will also be more advanced than others.

Knowing how to work with people is one of the abilities required of an engineer. This is due to the
fact that these engineers' work is done in groups rather than individually. The ability to get to know
people is important because it will make things easier if we can easily get to know the people who
work with us because we will be able to tell if someone is emotional or not focused on their work. As a
result, team morale can be improved. As a result, the project went off without a hitch, and there were
no misunderstandings.

DANNIAL ASYRAFF BIN AZMI

As a future engineer, my role as a private to meeting those attributes of future engineers is I want to
possess high critical thinking and willing to find out something new on behalf of me to simply adapt
and learn something new that never been taught. This is often to make sure on behalf of me to find
out to survive within the real world to compete with people and myself to become more successful
which will contribute to people. Aside from that, having a good communication skill is required to avoid
any misunderstanding during works. It also will make our job become easier once we have a large
network in our circle. Last but not least, integrity. This is often a crucial aspect that I want to possess
to become a successful engineer. Many of us looked slightly on this attribute but it is important to
make sure the maintenance and invention that we created are useful without the user getting harm.

MASTURA AIN BT MOHD ZAMRI

My role as an individual is that I must be passionate in what i do while having good leadership skills in
order to become a good engineer in the future. I need to have good communication skills as
engineers interact and work on projects with many kinds of people, whether they are local residents or
foreigners. Excellent communication skills will produce quality works, as information can be shared
with clear transparency and precision.

Challenge
1. Have you encounter with any intense moment in your work?
During his worked at sec company, he is having a hard life on that time. He was working an
underpaid job plus, on that year he had just married so he needed more money to pay his
commitments. He was struggling financially and that was taking a heavy toll on him. One day, he
received a job offer from PETRONAS and he immediately jumped on this offer. His current job is
better and his life going well
2. It is true that maintaining mental health and physical health is quiet challenging?
Mental health is based on how an individual managed their time, work, and themselves. If
someone manage their schedules, stress and money well, it will produce a better life quality and
they will be able to handle the pressure. Mr. Hud loves mechanical engineering. During his
studying years, he loves what he is learning and gave his best. Now he works as a respected
engineer. Mr. Hud said, “when we work what we love, it will make our work easier and produce a
healthy life because we can handle our stress kindly”.

Tips to become good an engineer

Focus on the class and maintain the momentum to study. Try to be close with the lecturers
and always discuss about the topic that we don’t understand. Start looking around and
explore about our ambition what we want to be in the next 4 years. For example, if we want
to work in oil and gas, we are expected to know about it by interviewers and everyone else.
Thus, as a student we should learn and explore all that we can about oil n gas. With our
knowledge, it will help us during the interview session by showing that we are confident and
really interested in the oil n gas company and in the end we will get that job.
