Back pain is one of the most common reasons people go to the doctor or miss work, and it is a
leading cause of disability worldwide. About 60% of the world’s population suffers from back
pain. Back pain also known as backache are divided into cervical (neck) pain, thoracic (middle
back) pain, lumbar (lower back) pain and coccydynia (tailbone or sacral pain). The most
common area affected is the lumbar area. Back pain may result from injury, activity and for some
reason from medical conditions. Although back pain is classified as common disease, it may also
link to other chronic diseases such as scoliosis and osteoporosis.
Therefore, a program about safety and healthy awareness was conducted. The purpose of this
program is to give awareness about back pain, to classify the possible group that may have back
pain and ways to prevent back pain. Other than that, this program also encourages people to take
better care of their health. To allow the audience to participate the program, the program is held
through Google Form where there is a video about the awareness of the back pain and some
questionnaire for them to answer.
The target community for this program are students, office workers and general workers. The
reason for choosing this community is to identify jobs that are more likely to get back pain.
When the program started, about 40 people participated in the program and most of them were
students and they were in the age range of 18 to 21 years.

To achieve the objectives of this program, the group of 5 students were formed and must creating
an educational video and share to the target community. To share the video and reached the target
community, we are published the video in YouTube and include the video in the Google Form
platform.
Before the video was made, we prepared the information by doing research such as finding
articles related to back pain, causes, risk groups, related diseases and methods of treatment. We
also tried the recommended exercises and practiced the correct sitting posture. All because to
improve our understanding before we delivered to the audiences. The video is made in animated
form so that viewers are interested in seeing it. It is also to help speed up the process of
presenting information to the audience
Back Pain: Normal or Worse was the topic that we created in the educational video. The video
contains information about back pain such as the causes and ways that can be taken to prevent
back pain. The video started with Muhamad Akmal Bin Azman as moderator and give some facts
about back pain. Next, the scene changes to Muhammad Hakeemie Firdhause Bin Mohamad
Azrie where he explained the information about back pain such as why it is dangerous. After
that, Amirul Fikri Bin Amran explained the group at higher back pain risk. He also mentioned
some types of jobs that can cause back pain as an example of an accountant. For the next part,
Abdullah Muhammad Al-Amin Bin Mohd Adnan were explained the diseases that related to
back pain. One of the diseases is osteoporosis where bones of spine becomes brittle and porous.
The last part is ways to prevent back pain and explained by Nik Faris Aqil Bin Nik Imran. In his
part, he also mentioned some simple exercises that others can do even at home.
From this program, we can improve our ability in conveying information. In addition, it can also
be more creative in delivering information.

We put effort and role in this activity including appropriate arrangement of the introducing out
topic with proper language and the aid of videos to make our presentation easier to understand.
However, we add some examples clip to the video so it will look more interesting to watch.
Besides that, the video duration is also an important area that can be improved. Video needed to
be compact and use simple word for viewer understand. of our video. We also asked the
participants to rate our video based on several criteria with the fixed scale from very poor (1) to
very good (4).
In this program, there are 40 respondents from that give us rating and feedback about the video
through the Google Form platform. From the feedback, we knew that 14 out of 40 respondents
are male (35%) and the remaining 26 respondents are female (65%). Based on the data received,
28 respondents aged from 18 until 21 years old (70%), 7 were above 21 years old (17.5%) and 5
respondents were under 18 years old (12.5%). In the Google Form, we also included some
questions that needed to be answered by the respondents and the result were recorded for our
data analysis.
The purpose of the questions is to determine the self-awareness among the participants and their
knowledge about back pain. The first question asked if washing and dressing cause pain at the
back and 30 of them agreed (75%) and 10 disagreed (25%) with the question. Next, we asked the
activity that will hurt the back and the majority agreed (95%) that sitting for a long time period
will hurt the back. Only 2 people disagreed with that statement. The third question related to
their frequency of exercise. From the data, most of the participant exercise twice a week
(32.5%), 11 exercise once a week (27.5%), 7 people doing exercise everyday (17.5%) and the
balance 9 people never doing an exercise (22.5%).
We also asked the participants the possible reason for someone to have back pain with several
options such as sleep position, sit position, heavy work and workout. Majority of them choose sit
position as possible reason of someone to have back pain (87.5%). The least possible reason is
workout (17.5%). In the questionnaire, we wanted to test the participants by asking if diet can
cause back pain. The result showed that 26 from 40 people choose no (65%), 10 choose maybe
(25%) and the other 4 choose yes (10%). It showed more than half of the participant think that
diet does not cause back pain. For the last question, we asked how participants dealt with back
pain and most of them answered doing exercise or stretching to reduce back pain. there are also
those who answer lying down.
From the questionnaire, not only do we have the necessary data, we also know the areas that
need to be improved from the assessment given. For example, in terms of preparation when
making a presentation.
Below are the data that we received from the questionnaire at the Google Form platform:

This program has many effects not only on society but also on us. I am grateful that this program
successfully fulfilled the main purpose and reached the target community. For me, programs like
this need to continue to be implemented so that the community is more aware to safety and
health issues.
