10. Answer the following questions.

1 What is your favourite sport?

As for me my favourite sport is biathlon.

2 Do you enjoy travelling?

Frankly speaking I enjoy travelling, and now I’m waiting my vacation to go to foreign country.

3 If you could live anywhere in the world, where

would you choose?

If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose Prague. This is a special place, with a measured

rhythm of life, here no one chases a lot of money, people value communication, so after work they go to a

cafe and talk about life.

I try to find one hour per day to study English.

11. a. Below are two photographs showing different

functions of the law. Compare and contrast the
two pictures, saying which situation is more
stressful.

First of all, in these two pictures we see how people representing the law act in real life. Obviously, in
the picture A policeman catches a criminal, and this is a really dangerous situation and the most
stressful, because no one ever knows how the detention of a criminal can end. So this can be a serious
threat to the policeman himself. In picture B, we see a court hearing where a lawyer asks questions to a
witness. Of course, this is also stressful, but less than the detention of a criminal.
b. How strict do you think laws should be?

Nowadays, laws should be strict, and maybe they are strict in different codes. To my mind, laws must be
strict because otherwise in a society begin devastation and anarchy. The laws allow you to introduce
structurality in society, to establish order. But the most important thing is that these laws apply equally
to all citizens. Because now we see that thieves who devastate the budget calmly walk free or receive
suspended sentences, and people who stole less receive 7-10 years in prison. It is unfair and only creates
tension in society and its stratification even more.

c. Below are two photographs showing friends together. Compare and contrast the two photographs,
saying what you think the situation in each one.

Obviously, in two pictures we see friendship at different ages. In the picture A we see a group of teenagers, they
are walking together, they have common interests, they are now having fun and they are not thinking about the
future. Of course, there are conflicts, misunderstandings between them, and they quarrel, do not communicate
with each other. But friendship is very emotional at this age. In picture B we see friendship in adulthood. This
friendship went a lot, such as quarrels, conflicts, and joy and support of each other. At this age, friendship is not
just talking, it is an internal feeling of reliance on a person where you feel without words that they will
understand, support, and help you.

d. What makes a good friend?

Probably for everyone there is a concept of friendship. As for me, a good friend is a person with whom I
feel comfortable. A good friend is a support. He/she can tell you the truth, even if it is painful, but not
with the aim of humiliating you, but so that you can understand yourself. A good friend supports you in
your endeavors, believes in you, is in touch with you. In fact, there are few good friends in life, so if you
have met one, value his friendship.
