Activity 2

1. Explain the reason why Paciano decided to send Rizal in Europe. Cite
the danger of being an educated Filipino in the Philippines.
 Rizal's discontent in his studies at the University of Santo Thomas (UST) and bad
experience under a repressive Spanish regime in the Philippines. This made him decide to
travel Europe where he continued his Ophthalmology course with the help and support of
his brother Paciano. Rizal also went to Europe with the help and acknowledgement from
Paciano, because Rizal wanted to know more about the culture, traditions, political
systems and the manner of life of Europeans. This was also a preparation for him to
liberate the Filipinos from the chains of abuses and brutalities from the Spanish regime.
 If you are educated in the time of the Spanish regime here in the Philippines, then you are
most likely get the attention of the Spanish government, they will have their eyes
watching you, every move and actions you do. There are chances that the government
and Spanish priest will target you if you know more about their regimes and evil
schemes. They will silence you so that all their plans would not leak out to all the
Filipinos. Just like what happened to Rizal, since he was educated and knows more about
the evil schemes of the Spanish government in the Philippines.
