Style in Philippine Theatre Arts -
Theater, as the performing art that
consists of acting in front of an
audience, uses a combination of
gesture, music,dance, sound,
speech ,or a narrative. Theater takes
many forms ,such as plays, musical,
Orlando Nadres (born November 1938 in
Tayabas, Quezon - died July 14, 1991) was a
stage, film, television writer, director and actor.
He is the son of Igmideo Nadres and Tecla
Reobaldo. He attended the Lucena and Tayabas
Elementary School, then went to Luis Palad
High School where he published his first story in
Liwayway. He spent four years in Our Lady of
Guadalupe Seminary and a year in the St. Paul
Seminary in Pasay. He took a secretarial course
and enrolled in Journalism and later in Foreign
Service, major in French in U.S.T.
The first play, 'Paraisong Parisukat'
by Orlando Nadres, is set in a small
stockroom of Mirasol Shoes which
holds the owner, long-time
employees who want to stay in the
workplace, and a newcomer who
dreams bigger than being confined in
the workplace, until problems came
their way and challenged their
ambitions
Bienvenido Munoz Noriega Jr. is a 
Phiippine playwright.He is the second
child of Bienvenido
Noriega and Socorro Munoz of
Cauayan, Isabela and Cabatuan,
Isabela, respectively. He finished his
secondary education in St. Anthony
School, Singalong, Malate (
Salutatorian, 1968), and he took up
his tertiary education in the 
BAYAN BAYANAN was known for its
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) theme.
The script works with several characters on
the verge (LIMIT) of diaspora (MIGRATION).
Their only rest is the company of each
other and the remaining thought of going
back to the Philippines. These
Filipinos blindly maneuver themselves in
Europe in search of greener pasture for
themselves and some, for their families.
Tony Perez was born on 31 March 1951 in
San Fernando, Pampanga. He is a fictionist
and playwright in English and Filipino,
lyricist, visual artist, and clinical therapist;
psychic trainer and adviser to the Spirit
Questors, a group of young psychic
volunteers he brought together in 1996.
He conducts workshops in magic,
shamanism, psychic powers, dreamwork
and dream analysis.
Byaheng Timog 1984, shows how an
automatic patriarch intervenes in the
personal lives of the children towards
his death which became blessing in
his children
Elsa Martinez De Coscolluela is an
award-winning Filipina poet, short-
story writer, and playwright from 
Bacolod City. She is married to Jose
Writing at the Silliman University, a school
noted for training writers in the Philippines,
and also a doctorate in Language and
Literature from the De La Salle University.
Her career as a poet lasted between 1965
and 1973 and these poems are published in
a book entitled "Katipunera and Other
Poems" published in 1998. In 1973 she
focused her writing efforts to writing plays
and also to pursue an academic career.
Her best known play that earned her great
acclaim as a playwright is "In My Father's
House" which staged production both in
the University of the Philippines and the
Cultural Center of the Philippines in the
year 1988. This play was also the official
Philippine entry to the Association of South
East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Drama Festival
held in Singapore in 1989. In My Father's
House was also staged in New York, San
Francisco, Kyoto, and the Philippines.

playwright, historian and educator.
 He is a member of the Philippine
Center for Civic Education and
Democracy and has served as its
chair. He is author of the A History of
the Filipino People for High Schools.
“Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio”
The protagonist on the play “Ang Paglilitis ni
Mang Serapio” is a beggar by the name of
Serapio. He is a member of a federation and
was accused because of breaking their rules.
The accusation was dug by a trial with three
antagonists. They are more powerful than him,
by asking questions. One of the primary
conflicts is person against person. It
illustrates to us what a man can do to hurt
another man just because of status and greed.

his play is based on the life of Lapiang Malaya
founder Valentin “Tatang” de los Santos,
dubbed the “Second Messiah”, who led his
group to a march towards Malacañang in 1967
that resulted in the massacre of most of its
members.  Tatang is sent to a mental hospital
where he is later reported to have been killed
in a brawl.  An expansion of the author’s
earlier play entitled Si Tatang atbp mga

Nukleyar 1983, delivered through songs
and dances couples of slides that
showing the effects of nuclear similar to
what happened in japan during WWII.
This play is a response to the
establishment of nuclear plants in the
Philippines such as that in the province
of Bataan.
Rodolfo Galenzoga
Maranatha, which used an old Lanao
tale about a big, black, predatory
bird. This exposed the corruption of
politicians in Mindanao as well as
the militarization in this region.
Philippine Contemporary Dance
This form of art from the 60’s became
very dynamic as several school begin to
establish folk dance troupes. FEU, PWU,
PNU, UP, MSU all have earned honors
and recognitions abroad as provided
inspiration by Francisca Reyes Aquino.
Filipino excelled in the area of BALLET
through Orosa Goquingco and Remedios
de Oteyza who promoted abstract ballet.
Contemporary Music - Original Pilipino Music
(OPM) Philippine pop or popular song specially
ballads became prominent Manila sound in the
1970’s. OPM artists are Nora Aunor, Eddie
Peregrina, Victor Wood, Pelita Corrales and Asin.
Filipino Music Artists includes Dulce, Claire Dela
Fuente, Pops Fernandez, Didith Reyes, Rico,
Puno, Ryan Cayabyab, Basil Valdez, Celeste
Legaspi, Hajji Alejandro, Rey Valera, Fredie
Aguilar, Imelda Papin, Ogie Alcasid, Joey Albert,
Martin Nievera, Lea Salongga, Sharon Cuneta,
Regine Velasques, Francis Magalona and Gary
Valenciano
In the 1990’s Orginal Filipino Bands
came such as Eraserheads, 18k,
South Border, After Image,
Rivermaya and Parokya others.
