The entries exceeded more than

100 compared to the previous show.
The head judge and forty other
judges, divided into eight groups,
selected nominees for the grand
champion and took a vote.
None of the nominees earned the
majority. The second vote was done
among the top five of the first vote.
Again none won the majority. The
final vote was between the top two,
a Kohaku and a Taisho Sanshoku.
Mr. Masahiro Hoshino’s
Kohaku, bred by Sakai Fish Farm
and sold by Odakan, was judged the
victor. The thickset, well-fattened
body was outlined beautifully. The
well-balanced, stately Hi markings
gave exquisite dignity to the

done among the top three of the first
vote but none earned the majority.
The result of the final vote, between
the two Kohaku’s, was 22 - 19. Mr.
Kaneko’s Kohaku won by a narrow
margin.
Mr. Kaneko has skill in raising
koi in his spring pond. He got
results of winning the superior
championship at the 35th All Japan

Kohaku, nicknamed “Seio”, by
raising it to 92 cm long. As this
Kohaku had gained the confidence
