Lesson delivery
4. Follow the instructions for Activity 2 (CD 3 – Track 11) in the Teacher’s Book.
5. Draw three column on the whiteboard and label each column with /d/, /t/ and /id/. Get pupils to write the

verbs from the chant in the column to check their understanding. Then, have pupils look at Unit 3 (Student’s
Book pages 27-31) of their books. Ask them to find examples of verbs with each ending. (e.g. /d/: opened; /t/:
wrapped; /id/: painted).
6. Teacher could add more regular past tense verbs here so that pupils practise the different sounds for the past
tense endings.

8. Play ‘What’s that sound’ as revision of the lesson .

1. Show Ps the flashcard of the mummy. Say the word and have Ps repeat.
2. Repeat the same with the rest of the flashcards.
3. Direct Ps’ attentions to the vocabulary section at the top of the page . ( CD 1 – Track 36)
4. Play the CD and have Ps point and repeat.
5. Say the words again in random order and have Ps repeat and point.

Lesson delivery
6. Direct Ps’s attention to the title of the quiz.
7. Ask Ps what the quiz is about.
8. Ask Ps what they about mummies and Ancient Egypt and Initiate a short discussion.
ACTIVITIES 9. Have Ps do the quiz individually. Go round the class helping them in need if necessary .
10. Then, direct Ps’s attention again to the picture and ask them to guess.
11. Play the CD and have Ps chorally repeat.
12. Divide Ps into pairs. Ask Ps to talk about the quiz in pairs.
13. Ps look at page 118 to check their scores.
14. Discuss Ps’ results as a class .
15. Direct Ps’ attention to the grammar box for a while . Read the verbs aloud and have Ps repeat. Remind Ps
that verbs change when we talk about the past.
16. Explaining to them about Simple Past Tense with examples based on the quiz.

3. Follow the instructions in the Teacher’s Book for Activity 2.
4. Focus on the Writing Tip and use the guidelines in the Teacher’s Book to talk to your class about the four
writing points.
ACTIVITIES
5. Ask pupils to find examples of the four points in the email in Activity 1.
6. Have pupils write an email to a friend about a trip they made using the four points in the Writing Tip. They
could finish the email with a question, to encourage a reply. Have pupils sit in pairs and support each other in
their writing. If possible, have pupils use computers or other devices to write the emails.
7. Pupils send or exchange the emails with another pupil, who reads it and gives feedback on it. If time
allows, pupils can write a reply, or can do so as homework.

4. Have Ps compare their answers in pairs first and then check as a class.

6. Ask them to guess what job the man does and what the animals in the picture is.
