➢ Halyomorpha halys (Geographical distribution in Greece)

In Greece, H. halys was first reported in 2014 to initially cause only disturbance
inside homes. Later, in 2017, the first adults were observed in kiwi orchards in
Northern Greece and specifically in the prefecture of Pieria and Imathia, where
they caused significant qualitative and quantitative damage.
Biology of insect notes: in Greece 2 generations observed
Consideration: lack of methods for controlling pest

As part of the NSRF program, ZEUS KIWI SA company succeeded in approving a

research program in collaboration with the International University for the detailed
study of the biology of the insect in kiwi, the insect hosts before reaching the kiwi,
its trapping, the most effective insecticides, the possible natural parasites, the
creation of population maps using GPS, mechanical treatment methods, etc.

Evaluation of irrigation methods on the risk of bacterial infection

Drip Vs Microjet

Stage 1: Comparative evaluation of the two irrigation methods

Stage 2: Modify the irrigation method regarding the amount of water dose.

Conclusions: The infections in the orchards showed a significantly higher rate of infections in
the orchard in which the irrigation was carried out with micro-sprinklers. As result of the link
between the duration of high relative humidity and PSA infections in the test fields.

Result: Development of PSA prediction model software based of RH (rel.humidity), Wetting

• Evaluation of various plant protection products (Cooper compounds) for chemical control

➢ Results
• The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between
treatments in the number of spots per kiwi leaf .
• It is found that the 22 strains of Psa have developed a significant level of resistance, as
they grow easily at at least 200 μg / ml (1.26nM), while two (4.5%) of them do not inhibit
growth even at 400 μg / ml ( 2.52nM).

future projects:

• Effect of nitrogen fertilization on bacterial growth and fruit quality

• Effect of summer pruning: on the microclimate of the orchard, the

spread of the disease and the quality of the fruits
