The following procedure is to be

used in EMERGENCY situations
only! Bypassing the 12 to 24 volt
converter disables all the E-Stop but-
tons, which can lead to serious injury E-stop Solenoids

The 36 Direct Drive is equipped with a 12 to 24 volt con-

verter (Schwing part# 98381513). On most machines, if
this converter fails, the boom sections can still be folded
up using the manual hand valves on the boom control Figure 2
block. The 36 Direct Drive needs electrical power to Converter switch / e-stop manifold solenoids

we have installed a second, backup 12 to 24 volt con-
verter that can be activated with a bypass switch. 3. Replace the main 12 to 24 volt converter immedi-
ately. The backup converter is for emergency use

When the 12 to 24 volt converter is

bypassed - clean out and fold up
the boom immediately. Use caution
when folding up the boom. Do not
move the boom into any unsupport-
ed positions.

Leaving the bypass switch in position

2 will drain the battery if the ignition
is shut off. Test backup converter
monthly.

Loss of Electrical Power - Emergency

Fold-up Procedure
If you lose electrical power, boom sections 1 and 2 can
be folded up with the manual hand valves on the boom
control block (see operation manual). For boom sec-
tions 3 and 4, you must use a different procedure to fold
these sections into the transport position:

1. If the Vector Control Panel is still working, turn the

Vector key switch to the bypass position (Figure
1), then skip to step 4.

2. If the Vector control panel is not working, turn the

Vector key switch to the bypass position and then
turn the converter bypass switch from position 1
to position 2, (Figure 2) then skip to step 4 if the
E-stop solenoids are energized. Figure 4

age or total failure of the rotary drives
is possible. Never deviate from the
Boom/Outrigger logical sequence of numbers.
