36 Direct Drive Emergency

Bypass Position 1 = Main Converter
Bypassing 12 to 24V Converter Position 2 = Backup Converter

The following procedure is to be

used in EMERGENCY situations
only! Bypassing the 12 to 24 volt
converter disables all the E-Stop but-

verter (Schwing part# 98381513). On most machines, if
this converter fails, the boom sections can still be folded

In the event of a 12 to 24 volt converter failure:

1. Turn the converter bypass switch from position 1

to position 2 (Figure 2).The Vector panel will re-
start, check for any errors on the display.

Loss of Electrical Power - Emergency

Fold-up Procedure
If you lose electrical power, boom sections 1 and 2 can
be folded up with the manual hand valves on the boom
control block (see operation manual). For boom sec-
tions 3 and 4, you must use a different procedure to fold
these sections into the transport position:

1. If the Vector Control Panel is still working, turn the

Vector key switch to the bypass position (Figure
1), then skip to step 4.

2. If the Vector control panel is not working, turn the

Vector key switch to the bypass position and then
turn the converter bypass switch from position 1
to position 2, (Figure 2) then skip to step 4 if the
E-stop solenoids are energized.
3. If the Vector and converter are bypassed, yet the
E-Stop solenoids are still not energized, hold the
boom/outrigger override handle on the e-stop
manifold (Figure 3).

Damage may result if using the emer-
gency cable control. Material dam-
age or total failure of the rotary drives
is possible. Never deviate from the
logical sequence of numbers.

The arrows on the emergency cable

control do not correspond to the rota-
tion of the boom sections. The arrows
are guides only.

Rotating boom 3
1. Press and hold the boom #3 release button (Fig-
ure 6).
2. Start with white button #4, press and hold for at
least 5 seconds or until the boom stops rotating
(Figure 6).
3. Press white button #3 for at least 5 seconds or
until the boom stops moving (Figure 6).
4. Press white button #2 for at least 5 seconds or
until the boom stops moving (Figure 6).
5. Press white button #1 for at least 5 seconds or
until the boom stops moving (Figure 6).
6. Continue pressing all buttons in sequence for at
least 5 seconds. If the boom section is rotating
the desired direction, repeat the sequence until
boom section #3 is folded in.
