Q1.

) Based on the webinar about the BPO, will the CREATE Act have any unfavorable impact to
the BPO industry? (50p)

Generally, the CREATE Act was created in order to provide tax relief to business entities by
reducing the regular corporate income tax rate especially to businesses adversely affected by the
COVID-19 pandemic. As of now, no unfavorable effects are being anticipated by the BPO industry, and it
is believed that favorable effects will prevail more than any unfavorable effects in the foreseeable
future. Even if the BPO industry only endured relatively minimal damages amid the pandemic, the
industry can still utilize the incentives brought by the CREATE Act. Such favorable effects are in the form
of the following benefits:

BPO companies will be able to recover their investments in 18-24 months.

An enhancement in the fiscal incentives system of the country will attract more foreign direct
investments which will also help other industries BPO industry.

Creation of more jobs for the industry which will result to the growth of the economy

As of now, it is still difficult to measure the actual effects of the CREATE Act, but the industries such as
BPO are rooting for the Act’s success.

Q2.) A lot of industries were introduced to you this summer, given the chance to be absorbed by a
company from said industries, which would you choose? Provide 3 reasons (1pt)

From the different kinds of industries that we were introduced to during this term, I would
choose to work for the mining industry. There are various reasons as to why the mining industry is at the
frontline of my preferences, but the following are the most important ones:

1. Exposure to diverse fields, professions, and body of knowledge

The mining industry is comprised of many different kinds of professionals. In order to be able to
successfully complete the life cycle of a mining industry, engineers; chemists; auditors;
accountants; and other professionals all work together to keep the operation running
effectively. The diversity of skills and knowledge will contribute to my growth as both an
individual and a professional.

2. Travel opportunities
According to the speaker, working in the mining industry allows an auditor to visit the site from
where a client is operating. Being able to go to different places surely is tempting and something
that I am excited about.
3. Sense of fulfillment
More importantly, I want to work with the mining industry because of my concern for the
environment. Working in this industry will not only provide me with economic opportunities,
but will also provide me a sense of fulfillment that comes along with working for a cause that is
very close to my heart. It would be an honor to help in making sure that the stages of the mining
industry are done in accordance with the appropriate regulatory frameworks in order to not just
protect the environment and indigenous people from unethical behaviors, but also to make sure
that our resources are properly accounted for.
