The Paradox of our Time

The way of life that vanishes in vain like a mist or like a dream in the
night, the poem “The paradox of our time” has given me a glimpse of what the
future holds. A glimpse of the life that we are dreading to have. The kind of life
where modernization is brought up to a whole new level, up to the point where
it has completely taken over the way we perceive things. We are in the time
where material things and money wouldn't be a problem, but instead humans
are. A time where human existence is like a disease and is pointless.
Throughout time everything changes, most believed that it is a part of
sustaining life and it is for the best, but I don't think so, for everything has a
down side. Good things always coexist with bad things. The scientist Albert
Einstein once quoted “Nothing is constant, but the universe and human
stupidity”. Thinking about this a thought of familiarity washed over me,
because somehow it seems to be related to the poem. Humans might live in
different ages but our desire to conquer will never end. Humans may think that
because of the new discoveries, technology and amenities life would be truly
easier but we are wrong.
According to the poem humans will finally achieve their greatest desire
having luxurious lives, less traffic, cure to any kind of sickness and many more
but humans failed to see what's more important. The Values, human
interaction, integrity and morality. Human stupidity isn’t solely measured by
the academic accomplishments instead its on how we act in due times. What's
the point of having a big house if you don't have a family to make it a home.
What's the point of having a higher education or a degree when you act dumb
with little or no sense at all. What's the sense of taking vitamin supplements
and any other medications if you abuse your body by drinking, smoking,
staying up late and eating fast foods. What’s the sense of humans meeting
intergalactic aliens rather than the people living next-door. Human existence in
this time would be a big joke, they do what they want but get depressed and
kill themselves. Humans are living their life in accordance to what they want
but is it really living a life?
Humans are stupid enough not to see what is more important. We
always want what we don't have and neglect what we have. We tend to ignore
things that we don't see valuable enough but when its gone we regret it. In the
movies the future is depicted to be so much better, because they only focused
in the progress of the society but not on the people. The society is harsh and
we humans might fail to see it.
For me the poem is a paradox, it may seem impossible but there is also
possibility that it may happen, considering the fact that humans strive for
knowledge and new discoveries and inventions. The poem serves as an eye
opener for us to see what is more important. It shows us that the way the
world change should not affect us to that extent. We may never be certain
about what the future holds, but till then we are all molding our future.
