Background Information for Learners:


Intertextuality draws origin from literature and asserts that texts can only be understood in
relation to other texts. Also, present-day texts are believed to have been based on or at least inspired
by previously-published literature – from the style to the content, to the context, etc. (see the
discussion on pages 6-7 on your Reading and Writing Skills module).
