City of Kalamunda
AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES
The City of Kalamunda is developing an Age Friendly Strategy to assist our residents to age
well in their community.
Age friendly communities are those that are inclusive and accessible for people of all ages.
This encompasses spaces and places and programs and initiatives that make a
community better for all residents including children, young people, parents and seniors.
The Western Australia Disability Services Act requires all Local Governments to develop and
implement a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) to ensure that people with disability
have equal access to its information, facilities and services.
The City of Kalamunda is committed to facilitating the inclusion, participation and a sense of
belonging of people with disability in our community through the improvement of access to
its information, facilities and services. The City adopted its first Disability Service Plan (DSP)
in 1996 to address access barriers within the community.
The City’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan is updated every five years. The plan is
reviewed annually and an annual report is submitted to the Disability Services Commission.
See the City of Kalamunda’s DAIP at: Disability Access and Inclusion Plan
