Reflection

English courses have never been something that I have excelled at. Countless times I
have registered for this course and then withdrew. Not because I couldn’t do it but because I
truly believe that I am not good at it which is disheartening. It is easier for me to choose an
online course to work at my own pace and really set expectations for myself. This course has a
lay out that is straight forward and easy to understand and follow. I knew there was purpose to
the assignments to make me a better writer and help grow my understanding of writing
techniques.
Throughout this course I could feel my confidence growing and my writing ability
improving. Professor Stone was not only understanding and flexible, but she was kind and gave
great feedback. She created a safe and friendly learning environment that I enjoyed submitting
my work to. I appreciated that professor Stone allowed us free range of what we wanted to do
our projects on. I found it easier to write about things that I am interested or passionate about.
On the other side of that, it took me awhile to decide what I wanted to do my projects on
because we had free range. But overall, I am extremely happy with my work.
I feel successful after completing this course and I don’t have anything bad to say about
it. Being able to see previous examples helped me greatly, I would of liked to see more video
explanations like in project one. I would recommend this course to anyone and even the online
version. I think this would be a great start to online courses for someone who hasn’t had
experience with them in the past. I am grateful for the learning opportunity in this class and
hope to work with professor Stone in the future.
