FINAL EXAM

This assessment will have 3 sections (a shorter section and two longer sections)
Section One (10 marks): Students will be given 2 essay questions, and they will have to write
an outline of one answer based on a provided template:

Section Two (20 marks): Students will be given two poems, from 100 Best Poems, and will
select one poem to analyze, in terms of form and content, based on a given question.

Section Three (20 marks):


 Students will be given one passage to analyze based on a given question. Students
should be able to zoom in on the passage, their answer should be based on the passage
and not on the entire novel. Any ideas dealing with the answer and outside the scope of
the passage should be considered irrelevant, and marks should be deducted.
 However, students can zoom out of the passage to make connections with other passages
/ ideas in the novel. But they should do so with clarity and lucidity and not at the
expense of their analysis of the passage.
 They should refer to critical essays whenever possible.
They should quote from the passage itself to show that they are building their interpretation
based on the passage and not on what they know about the novel

The final exam will test the following basic research skills:
 Close reading skills
 Writing skills
 Structure and Organization skills
