a. Determine dimensional formula of universal gravitational constant (G) and latent heat.
b. If A.B=0. What is the value of angle between A and B?

d. Distinguish between conservative and non conservative force.

f. Why are cow more stable than man?
g. Define viscosity. Does it depend upon temperature? Explain.

a. Express 37˚c in to Fahrenheit scale.
b. Latent heat of vaporization of a substance much greater than latent heat of fusion. Why?
c. Diesel engine is more efficient than petrol engine. Why?

a. Differentiate between real and virtual image.
b. Under what condition prism shows minimum deviation.

a. What is electrostatic shielding?
b. Explain the difference between polar and non polar dielectrics with one example each.

5. Answer any three questions.
a. Show that path followed by projectile fired at an angle θ with the horizontal is parabola.
Also find (i) Time of flight (ii) Maximum height and (iii) Horizontal range.
b. What is escape velocity? Derive expression for it.
c. What is capillary ? Derive a relation for height of a liquid column in a capillary tube when
one end is dipped in the liquid.

d. What is terminal velocity? Derive an expression for the terminal velocity of a small spherical
body falling through a viscous liquid.
6. Answer any two questions. (2×4=8)
a. Define linear and cubical Expansivity of a substance and establish relation between them.
b. Define coefficient of thermal conductivity. Describe Searle’s method to determine thermal
conductivity.
c. State Boyle’s law and Charle’s law. Use these theorem to derive ideal gas equation PV=nRT.

a. Derive mirror formula for concave mirror producing real image.
b. Derive lens maker formula.
8. Answer any one question. (1×4=4)
a. State Gauss law. Use this theorem to find the electric field of a line charged conducture.
b. Define capacitance of a capacitor. Derive an expression for the capacitance of a parallel plate
capacitor.

9. Solve any three numerical questions. (3×4=12)
a. A stationary mass explodes in to two parts of 4 units and 40 units respectively. If the largest
mass has an initial kinetic energy 10J . What is the initial kinetic energy of smaller mass?
b. A bob of mass 200g is whirled in a horizontal circle of radius 50cm by a string inclined at 30˚
to the vertical. Calculate the tension on the string and speed of the bob in the horizontal
circle.
c. A constant torque of 500Nm turns a wheel which has moment of inertia 20kgm2 about it’s
centre. Find the angular velocity gained in 2sec. and the kinetic energy gained.
d. Eight spherical drops of equal size are falling vertically through air with terminal velocity of
0.15m/s. What would be the terminal velocity, if they coalesce to form a big drop?
10. Solve any two numerical question. (2×4=8)

a. A glass vessel of volume 50cm is filled with mercury and heated from 20˚c to 60˚c. What
volume of mercury will overflow? (α-for glass=1.8×10-6K-1,ɣ - for mercury=1.8×10-4K-1)
b. How much heat is required to convert 5kg of ice at -10˚c in to steam at 100˚c? ( Latent heat
of ice=80cal/g, latent heat of vaporization of steam=540cal/g, sp. Heat of ice=0.5cal/gc)
c. The efficiency of Carnot cycle 15% if on reducing the temperature of sink by 65˚c the
efficiency becomes double, find the temperature of source and sink?
11. What is the apparent position of an object below a rectangular glass 8cm thick if a layer of water
6cm thick is on the top of the glass slab? (R.I. of glass=1.5, R.I. of water=1.33) 4

12. A 300v battery is connected across a capacitor of 3µF and 6µF in parallel. Calculate energy
stored in each capacitor? 3
