 Electronic governance or e-
governance can be defined as the
usage of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) by
the government to provide and
facilitate government services,
exchange of information,
communication transactions and
integration of various stand-alone
systems and services
Some of the main initiatives for e-governance
taken by Federal and Provincial governments
of pakistan are discussed as follows ;
 EDUCATION:
Pakistan government has taken
many initiatives to digitalize
education sector. Some of these are

• Government has made online

portals and webs where students
can apply for their desired colleges
and universities in their respective
fields. Students can also pay
adminission and tution fee online

• Government has started online

computer and freelancing courses
for students i.e 'digiskills'
APP FOR SOLD WASTES PROBLEMS:
Sindh Solid Wastes Management
Board(SSWMB) have developed app
for karachi through which citizens
are complaining about solid wastes
in their area and and the department
takes action within 24 hours.

APP FOR WATER TANKER BOOKING:

Karachi Water and Sewerage
Board(KWSB) has started app for
citizens facing water shortage that
they can book water tanker on govt
rates.
ONLINE JOB PORTAL:
Federal government has
developed a online job portal
where citizens can find both
Govt and private jobs
according to their fields and
cities.

PM CITIZENS PORTAL:
On this app citizens across the
country can complain their
problems about any
department which are then
forwarded to the concerned
department.
FINANCIAL BENEFITS
THROUGH SMART CARDS:
• Citizens of KPK and PUNJAB
are provided with smart cards
by provincial govts by which
they get free treatment and
check-up facilities of upto 10
lack per year in private
hospitals.

• Punjab Govt has issued issued

kissaan cards by which farmers
can withdraw subsidy cash
through ATM for fertilizers and
pesticides.
E-TAXATION:
Citizens can pay different taxes
from custom tax to vehicle tax
online through web's and apps i.e ;
Punjab Govt has started an app
named as 'E-PAY PUNJAB' through
which citizens can pay 21 different
taxes of 10 departments.

INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION

THROUGH TEXT MESSAGE:
Citizens can get information and register themselves on
different programs by just sending an SMS on the
number given by govt i,e; one can register him/herself
for vaccination by just sending their NIC number to 1166
