Summary: obviously, there are pros and cons of choosing studies whether student stick to
their desire or being problem-solver in the middle of society
Opinion: I consider that student should choose the major whatever they want because a piece
of problem in society is probably solved by their capabilities
Various academic disciplines are provided by university as a place in which student can
enrich knowledge and overcome problem in society. Generally, a few people have
argumentation about students can choose any major in university based on their passions and
interest in. On the contrary, because of increased in science and technology, the other people
suggest student to study the major what is related with current issues.
Every student has different goals in the future. One of the ways to reach their dream is taking
the course which can help to execute their goals. For example, BJ. Habibie, the third
president of Republic Indonesia, at young age, he had a dream for developing aeroplane
industry in Indonesia. So, he decided to continue his study that is focused on Aeroplane
studies at RWTH Aachen, Germany.
For some people proclaim that there are a lot of complexity problem occurred in the middle
of society. Despite the growth of science and technology, common people generally do not
know how to solve the problem. They have suggestion to encourage the student in university
for choosing the study that can help to complete many issues in society with the latest science
and technology approached. As a case in point, currently, Indonesia faces the crisis of
pandemic. Government demand scientist, doctor, and nurses immediately. Yet student who is
still studying in university is requested to be part of health workers for treat many covid-19’s
victims.
In conclusion, there is pros and cons of the major which is choose by students either based on
their passions or based on science and technology development. I consider that student
should not hesitate to choose the major whatever they want because a piece of problem in
society is probably solved by their capabilities.
