Auxiliary Engine Overhaul Plan
‘Auxillary Engine Location: Bottom Floor of E/R, in between both M/E and in front of FO purifier Panel.
Suspected Problems: Auxiliary Engine (S) has no apparent problem listed. Periodical maintenance i.e. FO & LO
filters changing, sump oil renewal etc has been done since taking over vessel. However, no records of major
overhauling found onboard,
‘Auxiliary Engine (P) has some discrete breakdown maintenance done from time to time as ~

‘At November 2020, new Governor Motor installed as the previous one has problems.
‘At Cape Town on April 13", 2021; Shore technicians took out Attached FW tank, cooler and Cylinder head
assembly to shore Workshop as there was a LO leakage at cooler. They cleaned and flushed the same and
fitted back. Cylinder head assembly cleaned and gaskets & o’ rings changed as per requirement.
‘On July 20", 2021 at Chattogram; Prantik Mechanical Team overhauled the Alternator rubber coupling as
it was torn out. After that, due to overspeed trip detection; Governor Assembly changed fully after several
attempts. The generator was operational from July 27".
Other than these, no records of Major Overhaul found onboard. And as for the problems, no apparent problems
listed.
Procedure:
1. Electrically isolation of the system, Breaker shut off.
2. Draining of FO, FW & LO system, Isolation of FO, FW and Air system.
3, Removal of External fittings and connections of several systems.
4, Removal of Cylinder head assembly covers with breather.
5. Removal of Exhaust Manifold from Cylinder head assembly.
6. Removal of FO injector and Rocker Arm from each unit. Removal of Fuel Pump and sending alongside with
FO Injectors to shore Workshop for Calibration.
7. Removal of whole cylinder head assembly, cleaning and checking.
8. Removal of head gaskets and necessary O’ rings, checking for damages and cleaning.
9. Checking of piston crown for carbon deposition, cleaning if necessary.
10. Removal of Piston, checking Piston ring clearance. Connecting rod bolt and bearing condition checking.
11. Removal of Connecting Rod from Pistons, check piston pin and bush condition; oil flow condition checking
in connecting rod.
12. Cleaning of each unit liners, Carrying of Liner calibration.
‘After necessary checking and repairing/changing, fitting back as before. Trying out while checking efficiency.
