Sets: notation. Operations on sets, univasal and complements. Calculus: functions and graphs,
linear and quadratic equations. Elementary differentiation and integration, maximum and
minimum values. Application of calculus to cost, revenue, profit analysis and decision-making.
Financial mathematics; series, arithmetic progression, geometric progression, simple and
compound interest. Discounting. Linear programming graphical method. Decision theory;
decision making under uncertainity conditions and competition. Minimax and maximax criteria.
Conditional payoff and opportunity cost tables. Expected monetary values. Decision trees and
sequential decisions. Numerical analysis; Effects of errors on the basic operations of arithmetic.
Polynomials and zeros.Interpolation techniques, Newton-Raphson method.
