In the following scenario we need to deal with Charlie in 2 particular formats, which are both

academically and societally acceptable as per se the norms of the profession. These following

methods can be described as the Descriptive Methods of Counselling and the Non-

Descriptive Methods of Counselling.

Descriptive Methods of Counselling:

Generally involves the suggested and certified training

methods of the various kinds as per the conditions at hand, and the requirement of the

situation and the client may vary in accordance to the same.

The methodologies stated e the 5W2H & the 5WHY Method generally brings to

conclusion the conceptualization certified professional may bring their practice and

understanding into play and provide for the best possible alternate as per the books and

teachings of the profession.

Analysing the condition of Charlie and the requirement to find the basic root cause of the

problem and a solution, to the issues faced by him, the best possible suggested method can

be taken from the management psychological methodology, i.e.;

 5 Whys Method (To reach the major root-cause(s) of the issue at hand)

 5W2H (To derive a suitable conclusion to the problem at hand)

 5Why’s Method: The following methodology refers to the concept of finding out the root

cause of the issue at hand by following the series of generally 5

why based questions to in the following the stream to dig deeper into

what caused the current situation to reach this extent.

In the following case study the issue stands as the anger issues of the child

(client) named ‘Charlie’. Which will be dealt with a series of why based

questions which in general case is 5, but varies from scenario to scenario.

Certain examples of the questions that have to be asked from Charlie are

stated below

Example Questions

 Why do you get so angry?

 Why do you get into fights?

 Why do you think you get targeted or bullied?

 Why is that you like to spend more time with your cook?

 Why is it that you prefer playing kids in the slums?

 5W2H Method: The managerial concept to derive the best possible solution to a given

problem at hand is generally by the consideration of this particular

methodology, i.e.; Who, What, Where, When & Why,

along with two how’s to proceed with the actual task at hand in an

organised manner without creating a chaotic mess at hand.

Non-Descriptive Methods of Counselling:

The following method of counselling is generally

related to the conceptualization of human touch & affection. Providing a level of personalized

understanding, which further provides for the diversification of the understanding of the

concepts based on psychological terms, that at times to over-rule them to dig deeper if

required and provide for a personal touch. This particular method shall stand as more useful to

those clients who face isolation and have developed certain issues related to the emotional

instability and various other factors affecting the mental and emotional health of these

individuals.
These individuals require special attention as they tend to feel outcastes to the

society due to the difference in mentality, bringing up and the societal grooming at large.

This generally takes place when the surroundings of an individual change to the extent of no

return making the scenarios even worse for these kinds of individuals as it’ll held them as

responsible for not being able to coup with certain degree of change around them which the

others sooner or later, but eventually coup-up.

Such individuals feel a false, but a strong sense of claustrophobia, making the scenarios even

worse for them to coup as the barrier they tend to cross isn’t existing physically but mentally

and emotionally, which takes consistent amount of time and perseverance to overcome

scenarios like this.

In the following case of Charlie, he has dealt with the similar circumstances and developed

that particular phenomenon of cleithrophobia, which generally means to feel trapped in a

loop one cannot escape and our little client Mr. Charlie seems to have trapped into the

following fishing net, and tries to escape the quicksand but fighting out of it, unable to

understand the more forceful the action the deeper he’ll get stuck.

To deal with him, he needs to be given time every now and then to help him analyse his

daily life and what all is going on around him and the difference between the acts performed

by him, and the acts, that are expected to be performed by him. And the attempt to show him

the bigger picture which he might miss, being at such a tender age, which might get him into

trouble eventually.

Once he is comfortable opening up during the counselling sessions, slowly helping him

perform better in his academics and diverting his mind from the disastrous thoughts in his

mind to the actions where he can bring out his skills and be acknowledged for whom he is

and not just a mere outsider who wasn’t able to adjust to change in the start.
