MEBO Scar Ointment

What is MEBO Scar Ointment?

MEBO Scar Ointment has been widely used for

preventing scar formation and improving scar appearance.

MEBO Scar Ointment could provide a moist environment and

necessary nutrients, inhibit fibroblast hyper-proliferation, regulate
collagen ratio and arrangement, control blood flow, therefore
restore skin’s physiological structure and function.
SCAR OVERVIEW
Incidence

Each year in the developed world 100 million patients acquire scars, some of which cause
considerable problems, as a result of 55 million elective operations and 25 million
operations after trauma.

11 million keloid scars and 4 million burn scars, 70% of which occur in children.

How do scars form?

When dermis is damaged, our body forms new collagen fibers to

mend the damage, resulting in a scar. Scar tissue has same collagen
as normal tissue but has a different texture and quality.

Oleum Sesami

For 3 months or longer, new collagen continues to form,

Sesame Oil and blood Beeswax
supply increases, causing scar to become raised, lumpy and red.
Some collagen then breaks down, and blood supply reduces, scar
gradually becomes smoother, softer and paler. Although scars are
permanent, they can fade over a period of up 2 years.

MECHANISM OF ACTION
Scar Tissue Feature
Mechanism

Enhance Skin Hydration

Higher hyaluronic acid intensity in MEBO group indicates higher skin hydration.

Mechanism

Regulate Intensity and Ratio of Collagens

Collagen Ⅰ (brown staining) with an even distribution

At week 16, MEBO Group’s typeⅠand Ⅲ collagen intensity and ratio Collagen Ⅲ (light brown staining) with an uneven distribution
was similar to normal skin.

Mechanism

Increase Skin Elasticity

Higher elastin intensity in MEBO group indicates better skin elasticity.

Mechanism

Control Blood Flow

Blood flow gradually decreased after week 2 in MEBO Group. Reduced blood
flow could reduce fibroblasts’ ability to synthesize collagens.
