Chapter Four: Current Events and Secret Societies

Insert Quote Here

Basically describing the various factions at work in Honolulu, which include:*

Flenser Status *maybe name them as something other than "Flenser", they are loads of medium-
large companies across the globe strung together and not a single entity, so abit of individuality
can color them nicely*
Celestial Currents
Abyssal Currents
Furies and Quagmires *As said before, Leliel made a cult, I wouldn't mind writing that*
Poseidon International and Other Hunters *Just because independent hunters can be fun to
write up :3*
Yakuza/Criminal Involvement *To fit in with Lel's story ofc*

Poseidon International
“Hello new employee. My name is Dr. Ernest Egarsson, CEO and current chairman of Poseidon
Labs International. Let me be the first one to welcome you to your new job in Poseidon and I,
along with the rest of the board, hope you have a long and happy career with us.”

As their employee introduction video would tell you, Poseidon International was a corporation
that began in 1885 under the name of “The Oceanography Enthusiasts Club” where it had it’s
origins in Norway. It had began under the purposes of studying oceanography that hosted anyone
willing to join, and within 5 years of it’s beginnings it would be recognized as a scientific
organization by the Swedish Government. It’s history has it’s ups and downs, including the
original creators dying in a shipwreck, destabilization and eventual resurrection under the new
name of “Poseidon International”. From their death as enthusiasts, they rose from the ashes as
scientists studying the sea and how it’s bounty could help humanity which leads their focus on
their projects today. It ends off with a list of their current studies in sea sponges and desalination
of water, and the factor of higher experiments allowed for only higher status personnel and due
to the nature of those experiements, any expression of knowledge will lead to, in their words,
“your termination”.

For what it’s worth, Poseidon International is indeed forward with what they do. The only thing
they leave out is how those undocumented experiments are upon any Sirens they capture in
hopes of trying to make the possibility humanity capable of living underwater come true.

As few Sirens, and most Flensers, know Poseidon International is one of the more prevalent
Siren Hunters that are around the globe. Though their real HQ is cemented in Norway, they do
open up new locations about major cities close to sea on most continents, and one of their most
active ones is within Honolulu, from which they report the most success in their work.
One would be justified in asking “Why aren’t they in with the Flensers”? That reason is because
in the early years of Poseidon, the Flensers have disregarded them as simple ocean enthusiasts
and that it would be a waste of money and flesh to try and get them to join. It wasn’t until a
certain event occurred that Poseidon began looking into Siren physiology as a way to help
humanity by making them capable of living underwater that the Flensers saw them as potential
threats. The feeling is mutual.

As it stands though, Poseidon is woefully exceeded by Flensers in hunting Sirens due to their
Cybernetics and Gene Mods, so instead, Poseidon excels in hunting singular Sirens to take back
to their labs and study them for as long as they’re alive. Their buildings are small, but defensible.
Their real power lies in some...inhuman traits their hunters show. Inhuman strength, durability or
skill with things. And they show unfaltering loyalty to the chairmen and women of the company.

In truth, Poseidon International is actually controlled by a shoal of Echidnal Sirens who use the
company to expand Echidna’s research and take out any Sirens who are deemed a threat to
themselves. Most of the higher personnel (and hunters) tend to own Malformations, granted by
Echidna’s blessing, without being completely turned into Vodianoi. This is what still makes
them a credible threat to Sirens and Flensers alike, and Honolulu is a great place to deal with
both.

Stereotypes
Celestial Currents: Can’t you see? You’re committing a sacrifice for humanity here!
Abyssal Currents: These are the easiest ones to capture, but they can’t sit still and accept their
place.
Flensers: Selfish pricks who yearn for only flesh and see no greater picture to things.
Furies: Sometimes, we’re ordered to avoid places. I dunno why, maybe it’s that feeling of being
watched?
Other Hunters: They impede on our resources, and so they must be stopped.
