One 

of  the most common activities during Halloween is getting together with friends to watch scary movies 
or  shows  together.  But  because  of  the  measures  put  in  place  to keep us safe during this time of COVID-19 
it  would  seem  we  can’t  anymore.  But  as  you  know,  I  love  this  holiday,  and  I  wanted  to  give  you  a  few 
suggestions  and  tools  that  will  help  you  set  up  your  own  watch  party,  to  keep  that  tradition  alive,  and  so 
you  can  also  enjoy  movies  and  shows  this  or  any  other  day/night  with  friends.  So,  without  further  ado, 
here’s my quick guide on: 
 

HOW TO HOST YOUR OWN MOVIE NIGHT 

 
The Tools: 
1. A  Chrome  browser  (or  a  browser  based  on  Chrome  that will let you install extensions) in a PC or 
Mac. Sorry, mobile browsers still don’t let us install extensions so your phone or tablets.. 
2. These three extensions, or any one you think helps you the most: 
a. Netflix Party or Teleparty​ Chrome Extension - very easy, especially for Netflix

b. Scener  Chrome  Extension  -  much  like  NetflixParty  but  you  can  also  add  links  for content 
outside  the  main  streaming platforms, but what i really like about Scener is it’s free public

c. TwoSeven  Chrome  Extension  -  for  everything,  including  video  files  on  your  computer  or 
anything with a video link, if the extension identifies it, you are set.

3. If you don’t want to install anything then you can also use this webapps:

 4. You  could  also  use  Discord,  which  you  already  have,  set  up  a  private  server/channel  for  you  and 
your  friends,  and  watch  your  movie  there,  it’s  an  app  you  should  be  familiar  with  by  now  and  it’s 
easy to set up and use.   
5. You might also need a streaming service account (Netflix) or your own video link/file 
 
How to: 
1. If  you  are  going  to  watch  content  straight  from  Netflix,  or  other  streaming  service,  then  the  best 
extensions  are  Netflix  Party  or  Teleparty and Scener. If you want to watch a movie you downloaded 
or from somewhere else on the web, then TwoSeven is the extension for you.  
2. It  doesn’t  matter  which  method  you  choose,  each  app  will  guide you on how to get set up and they 
will  even  provide  you  with  some  tips  and  helpful  videos.  But  basically, you install the extension, or 
go  to  the  webapp  of  your  choice.  Go  to  the  movie or tv show link. Hit the extension and invite your 
friends.  For  the  webapps,  you  paste the link of the movie or show and the webapp fetches it. That’s 
it! Easy peasy!
