INTRODUCTION
The Be Careers Network welcomes you to the “Introduction to MicroStation V8i” course. Designed as a
primer, the goal of this course is to provide you with a fundamental understanding of how MicroStation
V8i works and become familiar with its working environment. This is accomplished with short written
chapters and videos designed for fast comprehension of MicroStation’s basic operations and
capabilities.

COURSE CONTENT ORGANIZATION

The course consists of a series of hands-on chapters containing both topical narrative reference material
and hands-on exercises. In most cases, a video accompanies the chapter and should be viewed before
starting the chapter. A link to the video is provided on the chapter’s opening page. When you click the
link, the Microsoft Windows Media Player® opens and begins to play the short video. Once you have
viewed the video, simply close the media player and return to the chapter text to read more about the
current topic and complete the hands-on exercises. You can replay the video at any time.

The course concludes with a comprehensive two part exercise that brings together what you have
learned to develop a real world design, in this case a residential subdivision with roads, houses and
other features. As with the other chapters, detailed videos provide step-by-step instructions to help you
complete the design.
