Self awareness is a process of developing an understanding of an individual’s values, beliefs,

thoughts, feelings, attitudes, motivations, prejudices, strengths, and limitations and how these
qualities affect others. When it comes to nursing field, it allows the nurses to observe, pay attention to,
and understand the subtle responses and reactions our clients when interacting with them. And by
developing our self-awareness and beginning to understand someones attitudes, we as nurse can begin
to use aspects of his or her personality, experiences, values, feelings, intelligence, needs, coping skills,
and perceptions to establish relationships with our clients. Values, as a student nurse our values
include altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, honesty and social justice. In beliefs, for
me is that I need to do what is best for patients, I believe that our patients will always be our fort
priory when it comes to any situations that affect their health and achieving the right and
effective care for them. My thoughts and feelings are always set aside, having a different
feelings inside the field/ hospital areas specially when some crucial situations had arise or
appear yet for me I’ll always set aside my feelings and proceed to what is needed to be done.
Same as attitudes, for me it goes how you handle your patients. Because in a hospital we can’t
choose who to intertrain of to talk to specially when holding a patient assigned to you. People
have different diversities, meaning that people have different way to treat you. And I think
attitude will work here that you need to be always calm and to be calm and approachable as you
needed to since being a nurse duty is to gain his/her patients trust and to build rapport.
Strength,
