DepEd Catanduanes conducts full-scale simulation exercise to showcase readiness for

vaccination deployment

The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Catanduanes, in coordination with the Provincial Health
Office and the Rural Heath Unit of Virac conducted July 29 at the SDO lobby a full-scale
simulation exercise (SIMEX) of vaccine deployment to showcase its readiness for COVID-19
vaccination deployment to teaching and non-teaching personnel of the division.

The SIMEX aims to demonstrate the readiness of the division as it applies for an approved
vaccination post/area at the SDO to cater to its employees next week.

Moreover, the simulation targets to identify the adjustments that should be done by the SDO
Catanduanes in the actual vaccination for its personnel.

“We are doing this simulation exercise to know the possible issues and concerns that may arise
and find ways on how these can be resolved,” Mary Jean S. Romero, SGOD Chief said during the
orientation.

The SIMEX was spearheaded by the SDO Catanduanes School Governance and Operations
Division (SGOD) through the School Health and Nutrition (SHN) Unit headed by Dr. Kristine
Santelices.

“It is of great essentiality to be prepared and to immerse our SHN team who voluntarily accepts
the challenge to engage themselves in the exciting roles of being the SDO’s frontliners in the war
against COVID-19,” Dr. Santelices said, aiming to have a SDO-led vaccination team for all the
division’s employees.

Ma. Audrea L. Vivo, Disaster and Risk Reduction/Safety Officer has prepared the route plan for
all foot and vehicle traffic prior to the activity to be well coordinated and conform to all health
procedures as the SIMEX is being conducted.

The SIMEX is in preparation for the proposed collaboration with the different RHUs in the
province congruent to the current program for health in each municipality, promoting the
government’s slogan, “ISLABakuna, Protektado Ka, Tara Na!”
