As a Reefer Engineer or Sr. Reefer Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Vessel Reefer Care team which consists of 3
passionate Sr. Reefer Engineers who are experts in Refrigeration and Reefer models currently operated by Maersk. You will be
reporting into Vessel Reefer Care Manager

Vessel Reefer Care team is part of
Maersk Fleet Management and
Technology (FMT) Operations, Fleet
Group, Vessel Reefer Excellence team.
The team is ensuring the best reefer
working conditions onboard vessel at
low cost level without compromising
safety or quality and improve customer
satisfaction. Vessel Reefer care team is
on 24*7 shifts of assisting vessel
technicians of managing malfunctioning
reefers while at sea, as well as arranging
shore assistance (including reefer spars
deliveries) at lands if required.

The team is part of Maersk FMT and
operates from Maersk Chennai GSC
(Global Service Centre) office and
operates 24x7 assisting vessels in need
over emails and emergency hotline
phone. The team majorly operates
remotely from their respective homes
and is planned to connect personally
once or twice a year post pandemic.
You will be part of the Reefer Technical
team under Vessel Reefer Excellence
team in Maersk FMT Operations and
handle associated projects.
Further, your area of responsibilities will
be to: · Assist Vessels of managing
vessel reefer relevant technical queries
and malfunctioning reefers onboard. ·
Help vessels and fleet group of
improving reefer performances
onboard. · Couch and support
technicians on vessels to follow
guidelines for efficient and effective in
Reefer Operations · Collaborate FMT
Teams and vessels in improving crew
experiences with Reefers onboard. ·
Conduct Reefer and Refrigeration
training to cadet Electrical Engineers
across the globe.
To be a Reefer Engineer, you need to hold
a bachelor’s or master’s degree in
Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation or
Refrigeration Engineering and have a
minimum 4 years’ experience in handling
Reefers on-board container vessels. You
should be experienced in: · Handling,
troubleshooting, and repairing all kinds of
Reefer units (Carrier, Star Cool, Daikin &
Thermo King) on-board vessels · As
electrician and been sailing onboard
container (reefer) vessels. · Knowledge of
Reefer spares and repair feasibilities on-
board · Ship/Vessel structure, operations,
and day to day ship/vessel tasks We are
looking for an individual who is organized,
self-motivated and agile to adapt to the
changing technologies. We expect you to
have an open mind and a willingness to
learn and share best practice with your
colleagues. You should be brave to
challenge the existing solutions and
ideology with better solutions. Additionally,
we expect you to have: • A strong team
spirit together with a readiness to
challenge your colleagues in the interests
of achieving high-quality results • You have
a structured and systematic approach of
problem-solving • Strong written and
verbal communication skills in English are
a prerequisite and you need to be able to
present complex subject matters to
colleagues who are not experts in this
area. • You think proactively and are
focused on results. You are self-motivated,
self-disciplined, and able to operate with
minimal supervision.

· Expertise in MS Office tools and other

soft skills will be an added advantage. ·
Additionally, you understand the value of
building open, mutually trusting, and long-
term relationships with customers and
internal/external stakeholders. Although
the current job profile does not require
much travel, we expect you to be willing to
travel for projects or meeting if needed.
You may take vessel tours for few days in
a year to support trainings and reefer
operations/projects onboard.
