BUSI 601: ETHICS, CSR AND BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

Dr. Aia Shilibekova

Is the work ethic concept relevant in today's workplace?

Workplace ethics ensure a positive feeling in the office environment. It encourages satisfied
employees who appreciate coming to work rather than an insignificant wellspring of weight.
Employees furthermore develop an opinion of endurance and association towards the
organization. Work ethics further go far in supporting the bond among employees and,
specifically, their supervisors.

What ethical issue can be spotted in the given case?

There is an ethical issue with the discrimination taken place with Joe. Lack of Diversity
Management can be spotted in the given case. Joe has been terminated based on his age and
not on the elements directly related to his job or job performance qualification, as his
manager says his position is 'more suitable for a younger person.

What is the solution?

Organizations need idiot-proof frameworks to measure the exhibitions of such managers.

Examination framework should be planned, remembering employee's execution consistently
and their professional development. Occasional audits are essential. It is required for the
company to realize what their managers are doing and take necessary actions to stop such
discrimination at the workplace. Further, an organization can introduce a portal for
employees who can post anonymously regarding the discrimination they face at the office.
