QUESTIONS TO PONDER

1. How is comparative education relevant to classroom teachers?

Manzon (2011, p. 215) defines comparative education as an interdisciplinary subfield of

education studies that systematically examines the similarities and differences between
educational systems in two or more national or cultural contexts, and their interactions with
intra- and extra-educational environments. Its specific object is educational systems examined
from a cross-cultural perspective through the systematic use of comparative method, for the
advancement of theoretical understanding and theory building.
Classroom teachers are always eager to learn new knowledge and understanding of
various
academic and cultural discipline. Comparative education is very important to better understand
the educational system of our own country as well as the other nations. As educators, it is
relevant for teachers look for similarities and differences of educational systems of different
countries to adapt the best practices and improve the teaching techniques and strategies that will
help the learners to achieve quality education and competitive advantage.
By studying other systems of education, teachers learn how to utilize technological
advancements such as media and their benefits and detriments and this helps to bring the
necessary reforms and innovations in one's own education system. Being aware is a great
advantage to further unleash the full potential of our educational system. Moreover, the learners
will also be able to identify their strengths, weakness, threats, and opportunities as they look in
the educational system of other countries. Thus, new learning will enlighten the learners to
accept the challenges and face the lessons with life-long learning in mind. Effective and efficient
teaching and learning process will eventually lead to the achievement of the organizational
goals.

2. What factors should we consider when making international comparisons?
As we investigate the international education systems, we must compare and examine the
data of the countries such as Geographical sketch, History and Background, Constitutional and
Legal Foundations, Educational Philosophy, Aims of Education, Organization of the School,
Administration and Supervision of the School system, Education Reform, Education’s System,
Education Policies in the system of their education field. Studying all these factors will help to
understand the teaching and the classroom process in different countries which is essential to
know the overall background of their system. Accordingly, we will be aware of the country's
performance to others in order to assess what countries have achieved better results, what needs
to change in order for them to perform better, or a country's progress in reaching certain
objectives.

ICT integration in their curriculum (Ghavifekr, et al., 2012).
Technology integration nowadays has gone through innovations and
transformed our societies that has totally changed the way people
think, work and live especially in Southeast Asia.
As the global competition becomes increasingly popular, how to

the use of technology in education contributes a lot in the
pedagogical aspects in which the application of ICT will lead to
effective learning with the help and supports from ICT elements and
components (Jamieson-Procter et al., 2013). It is right to say that

her own school greatly affect teachers’ performance and
productivity. Believing that this present study would prove valuable
and serve as a guide for policy makers, school heads and teachers in
the Philippines to intensify initiatives to encourage greater
understanding and acceptance of the concept of ICT integration that
boosts sustainable competitive advantage in the field of education,
the researcher opted to conduct this study which leads to the crafting
of an action plan.
Research Objectives The objective of this study is to identify the impact of ICT
integration in teaching of Southeast Asian countries to teachers’
