MARJORIE A. PATAL
Ph. D. in Educational Management
Education provides stability in life, and it's something that no one can ever take away from
you. In the Philippines, the K to 12 curriculum is aligned with national education and development
goals enunciated in the laws of the country. It also responds to the Millennium Development Goals
and Education for All. I believe that the education system in the Philippines is responsive to the
needs of Filipino learners. The DepEd, CHED and TESDA have a common goal of providing
quality education for all learners in the Philippines. DepEd is responsible in basic education which
covers elementary, secondary, and non-formal education while CHED being responsible for
higher education and TESDA administering post-secondary, middle-level manpower training and
development.
The country also provides free and compulsory elementary education and free secondary
education which proves that all Filipino learners have the right to have quality basic education.
The K to 12 education also helped to enhance the learner’s basic skills, create a better opportunity,
and provide sufficient time for mastery of learning that ensures graduates to be ready for real-life
experience. The Philippine education system also considers the needs of learners with disabilities
and out-of-school youth and provide the best learning applicable for them regardless of their
identities. The education system also adopts to the changes happening in our society such as the
adjustments made from face-to-face learning to remote learning due to pandemic. The needs of
the learners are properly considered to give quality curriculum instruction. Health and safety is a
priority since the virus is spreading all over the world.
