Square duct systems

Application:
By applying air duct elements type VL, of square

cross-section, even several demands can be met in

respect of pressure difference, air velocity and
required air-tightness.

The parts of duct elements are assembled by using

mechanical corner folds or Pittsburgh folds. In case of
large cross-sections, or with straight elements, if
transport takes place in sheets, standing folds are used
as well. The standing folds are always situated on the
inner surface of the sectional pieces. Straight elements
transported in sheets enable an economical transport Mechanical corner fold Pittsburgh fold Standing fold
space utilisation, however, the on-site assembly
requires special devices and expertise (Fig. 1). Fig. 1.

10 (Fig. 2). The material thickness and bracing
requirements of air duct elements strongly depend on
the maximum pressure difference and air velocity
arising in the course of operation, and on their
fluctuation, respectively. Unlike the Hungarian
standards, the air duct system type VL is
manufactured according to the pressure grades as per
the standards DIN 24190 (Fig. 3), to the tightness
classes as per standards DIN 24194 (Fig. 4) and to the
assigned material thickness (Fig. 5) being closer to Leackage factor [(l/s)/m2]
practice. Unless otherwise provided, the duct elements
are manufactured to endure the grades 1 and 4, and Fig. 4.

(Fig. 1.10-10). The Fig. 1.10-6 provides information (leakage is around 3-5 l/sec for m2)
on the flanges sorts that can be selected depending on
the pressure grade and the prescribed tightness class. Fig. 6.
The Fig. 1.10-7 provides the required quantity of the Flange of square duct
clasping elements for MEZ flanges.
The heat resistance of duct elements type VL are
mainly determined by the sealing materials used in
manufacturing and installing. Unless specially
specified, we manufacture according to the pressure
grades 1 and 4, as well as to the tightness class I, where punching
we do not use any sealing material in the course of
manufacturing the duct elements, thus heat resistance
is determined by the materials used when installing.
The heat resistance of the “Terostat” tape is 60 °C. The
silicon rubber and the sealing silicon mass (Siloplast-
transparent) are resistant to heat up to 200 °C. Solder
seam can be used up to 120 °C. The Fig. 1.10-10
summarises the techniques and materials adopted by
us in case of the individual tightness classes, as well as
the material and design recommended by us for the
purpose of providing sealing between the flanges. spot welding

makes as per our in-house standards. The spacing n×t
is positioned symmetrically. The sizes of the flanges
depend on the specified pressure grade. In any non-
specified case, we use flange marked with letter M and
of grade I., respectively.
We undertake to manufacture special flanges or
flanges to be fitted to the makes of other companies
subject to a sketch to be submitted to us.
In air duct networks, it may occur that there is a

section, coupled by means of flanges or a demand for
coupling the flanges with equipment items of such
connection. We also undertake to manufacture such
individual sectional pieces subject to a sketch or VL-13
design documentation to be submitted to us.
The Fig. 1.10-12 contains the sizes adopted by the
PANOL-PLUSZ Kft. in manufacturing connecting
flanges of circular cross-section. In cases not
mentioned here, we apply sizes according to class I.
