a. Definition of Descriptive Text

Descriptive Text is a type of text in English that clearly describes the properties

purpose of this text is to provide the reader with clear information about the object
depicted.

b. Generic Structure of Descriptive Text

i. Identification
This section, located in the first paragraph, aims to identify an object that you
want to describe. Identification serves to introduce to the reader about the object

next paragraph.

ii. Description
This section, located in the second paragraph onwards, contains the properties
attached to something you have introduced to the reader in the first paragraph.

c. Descriptive Text Features

This text uses simple present tense because we will describe the facts attached
to an object, and the wrong function of simple present tense itself is to show a
fact or truth. For example: The color of my bedroom is blue.
