BULK POWDER CHEMICALS HANDLING CONCEPT

CHEMICAL STORAGE – CONTAINERS


Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers or Pallet bags of polyethylene or polypropylene standard woven non-
conductive texture and corrosion resistant nature are preferred. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) lining shall
be considered for hygroscopic powders. The typical storage volume considered is 1 ton per unit.

SUPPLY TO SITE’S UNLOADING AREA

Mode of Transport: Trucks


Loading: Supplier scope
Packaging: FIBC containers (also known as Bulk Bags) with discharge spout and pallet, each of 1 m3 volume.
Unloading: Our scope, at Unloading / Loading bay of Bulk Chemical Storage area at site
Unloading using EOT crane or electric hoist from unloading bay with lifting frame for the bag straps (for bags
without pallets) OR using fork-lifts (for bags with pallets)

UNLOADING BAY TO STORAGE AREA


Mode of transport: Fork lift
Storage: FIBC containers on Supported Stacking Shelves or Bulk Bag Racks

STORAGE AREA TO DISCHARGE STATION


Unloading: Fork lift
DISCHARGE STATION TO STORAGE SILO
Discharge equipment: Bulk bag opener with bag spout access chamber is enclosed and kept under a slight
negative pressure to minimize dusting issues and contain spillage or a glove box arrangement, with Positive
spout docking arrangements and a dust collector to evacuate the bag and rid the environment of suspended dust.
Automatic transfer of contents is made using integral conveyor to the Storage Silo.

STORAGE SILO TO DOSING TANK


The Storage silo stores a week’s demand of the bulk powder supply. It is supplied with dust collector,
dehumidification systems (where required), ventilation system, loadcell weighing and level measurement.
Unloading: Discharge of powder to the respective Chemical solution preparation-dosing tank is done using a
flexible or screw conveyor
