CYBERBULLYING AND CHILD PROTECTION

- Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and
tablets.

- Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming
where people can view, participate in, or share content.

- Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about
someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing
embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal
behavior.

The most common places where cyberbullying occurs are:

● Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok


● Text messaging and messaging apps on mobile or tablet devices
● Instant messaging, direct messaging, and online chatting over the internet
● Online forums, chat rooms, and message boards
● Email
● Online gaming communities

How to Protect ourselves from CYBER BULLYING?

1. Set healthy tech boundaries as early as possible.


2. Provide an open channel for communication between child- parents.
3. Look for teachable moments- be open on learnings.
4. Cultivate an environment of awareness and understanding around mental illness.
5. Monitor behavior changes.
6. Be aware on how much time you spend online, or with personal devices
7. React calmly and compassionately.
8. Find time to socialize with others.
9. Ask what you want If you are experiencing emotional distress because of a situation online, ask them
about the outcome they’d like to see, and work together to brainstorm a solution.
10. Think about bigger picture for seminars regarding cyberbullying.
