Answer the following questions:-

1) The holiday camp wants an online booking system.

Customers will be able to select arrival and departure dates, choose their accommodation type,
enter their address and contact details and register their preferences.
Explain how scripting would be used for the online booking system. [Marks: 6]
2) A company is planning a major industrial development in a remote area. It will build a new town for its
employees. The town will house 3000 employees and their families, with a total population of about 8000
residents. The town will have public transport, a library, school, medical centre, shops and other services.
The company wants to include ‘smart city’ features in the new town. One of these features is free Wi-Fi
for residents within the town perimeter.
Discuss how the Wi-Fi could be used by the town and its residents to make the town ‘smart’. [Marks: 6]

Wifi enables the users to connect to the internet. This enables them to have access to a
huge library of information, entertainment and many other features.

Having free wifi enables user to have access to online shopping, this will make the lifestyle
of the residents much easier because they don’t need to go outside in order to buy
groceries, clothes and other products. Instead, the can order it by sitting at home with a
simple click on their devices and just wait for the package delivery. They can also track their
package online, this will help them to know where the package is currently located and the
estimated time for the package to arrive at their doorstep.It can also help all the shops in the
town to setup their own businesses online in order to gain more customers.

People can communicate easily in various with each other using internet. For example
Emails can be sent to a person as a way of communicating via internet. Conference calls
using an application such as Google meet can be used in order to set up online meetings.
This will help save time and the cost of travelling for the residents.

Residents can book a cabin or contact the emergency service of the hospital easily as they
are connected to the internet.

It also the enables the accessibility of online banking, this way people can withdraw or
deposit or make payments without having to be present in the actual bank and they can
access their savings from anywhere around the world.
3) Hilmi Megat has a personal website. Hilmi uses the website to tell people about the places that he has
travelled to.
The website’s domain name is www.hilmi-megat.com and the IP address is 203.0.113.15.
When someone wants to visit the website, they enter the domain name into their browser address bar.
Describe how the connection is made to IP address 203.0.113.15. [Marks: 3]

When the domain name of a website is entered, the browser sends a signal
to the DNS servers which acts as a database of domain names and IP
addresses. The DNS server will convert the domain name to it’s related IP
address. This IP address is sent back to the browser, the browser will then
redirect the user to the given IP address in order to connect to the website.
4) Hilmi uses a web-hosting company to host and support his website.
The company provides software tools to make both static and dynamic web pages.
Give three differences between static and dynamic web pages. [Marks: 3]

Static web pages has more options for customization whereas dynamic web
pages has a fixed template.

Contents in a static web page is difficult to change because the contents are
fixed and the developers have to upload a whole new pages in order to
change something which is very difficult to do whereas it is easier to change
something on the dynamic web page by using the tools in the server it is in.

Static web pages are coded in HTML whereas Dynamic web pages are
coded in PHP,Javascript and other server side scripting language
