Thoughts of summer always bring back my childhood memories of fun, family and friends. Every warm
summer day was an adventure of swimming, bicycling, playing and just hanging out. My faraway destinations
included parks, playgrounds, pools, creeks, lakes, fields, woods and the homes of my neighbors and friends.
My favorite summer memories are of my scouting experiences at summer camp. I loved exploring the
outdoors, and I still do.
This summer, let Gahanna’s Parks & Recreation Department help you and your family recapture those
magical moments with our great selection of summertime activities, concerts, festivals and more.
Gahanna’s 700 acres of parkland and reserves, sporting event fields, picnic shelters, playgrounds, pools,
skate park, golf course, senior center, and more offer residents of all ages and abilities countless
opportunities to make special summertime memories. Best of all, because of the investments Gahanna
taxpayers have made over many years, we can offer these activities free of charge, or for a modest fee to
help cover our operating costs of some special programs.
The Parks & Recreation Department continually offers new programming to meet the recreation and
fitness needs of the Gahanna community. This summer, look for additional camping opportunities for
children and recreational sporting activities for adults. And for those who enjoy the beauty of nature, take
advantage of Gahanna’s many parks and walking paths. Enjoy the Creekside Trail and splashing in a
paddleboat. To view a complete park list, visit the city’s website at www.gahanna.gov.
This spring and summer offer so much for residents and visitors of Gahanna. Explore our community
while fishing with the kids at the Big Walnut Creek, riding your bike to the pool, playing and learning at
Camp Friendship, or just relaxing with friends on a hot, summer evening enjoying one of our many
Concerts in the Park. Is there something that you would like to see added to Parks & Recreation
department’s summer-time offerings? All suggestions and ideas are welcomed.
The City of Gahanna, through our Parks & Recreation Department, is dedicated to providing our residents
with diverse opportunities for fun and fitness. We continue to work hard to offer the best value for your
investment dollar in our parks and recreation programming, especially during these challenging economic
times. Whether you walk, cycle, play sports or relax in one of Gahanna’s parks, don’t miss our fun schedule
because summer comes but once a year.
