The microwave laboratory provides the necessary hardware & software support in

the area of RF and Microwave Engineering. It focuses on the principles and

advanced applications of Microwaves by learning characteristics of Microwave
components using Microwave bench setup. It includes design, analysis and
simulation of various components and devices to make measurements of power,
frequency, S parameters, SWR and insertion loss.

Course objectives:

1.Understand the basic characteristics of microwave sources

2.Verify the relation ship between guide wave length and freespace wavelength

3. understand the measurement of various parameters of microwave components

Measure the parameters using microwave components. II. Analyze the generation and propagation of
microwaves in waveguides.

III. Evaluate scattering parameters of different microwave junctions.

IV. Determine characteristic parameters of waveguides.

To understand basic microwave bench setup using klystron or Gunn diode as power source

1. To understand the characteristics of Reflex Klystron Oscillator (RKO) and Gunn Oscillator.
2. The   course uses Microwave bench setup. A key part of the microwave
laboratory experience is to learn how to use microwave test equipment
to make measurements of power, frequency, S parameters, SWR,
return loss, and insertion loss. Scattering parameters of microwave
components are defined and used to characterize devices and system
behavior.
