The Power Of The "Unscratchable Itch"
Have you ever had an unscratchable itch?
You know the one I’m talking about. That itch that
feels like it’s deep underneath your skin. That can’t
be scratched on the surface level.
And for the 1min you feel it… you’re in agony… and
would do ANYTHING to scratch it.
Yeah?
The "Unscratchable Itch" stops you dead in your tracks
and seizes your full attention.
That’s exactly what your subject lines need to do.
Stop your reader dead in their tracks... and create an itch that can ONLY be
scratched by opening your email.
There’s been dozens of times where an email subject line piqued my interest
and before I knew it I was…
Learning about something that changed the trajectory of my life
Discovering new info that got me to think differently
Investing hundreds, even thousands of dollars into a product or service that
would improve my life or business in some way
And to think that without that annoying itch, my life would be completely
different.
This report is bite-sized and easy to implement. But don’t underestimate how
powerful it can be when you apply it to your business.
You’ll discover…
The simple way to write subject lines that don’t suck
3 fool-proof subject line secrets that will get them to pop
How to put it all together so you can write subject lines that sell
You’ll be shocked as you read through these pages… as I demystify the secrets
to writing compelling subject lines that get your emails opened instead of
deleted on sight (or worse... landing in the spam box).
Learning this skill is incredibly versatile and will serve you in all areas of your life
and business.

How To Write Subject Lines That Don’t Suck
(In One Minute Or Less)
Are you using copy/paste templated subject lines
because you’re not an A-list copywriter?
In this section I’ll reveal 3 fool-proof secrets to help you whip up subject lines
that pop in one minute or less. So that you can get more opens, more reads, and
more sales… while doing less work.
First, I’ll share the subject line secret. Second, I’ll share 3 examples of high-
converting subject lines using that secret. Third, I’ll reveal WHY these subject
lines work and give you 3 plug-n-play formulas to implement on your own
subject lines that should take you one minute or less.
Also… you’ll notice that many of these subject line examples combine all 3 of
these secrets.
Sound good?
Here’s 3 examples:
Stan Lee reveals 7 deadly storytelling mistakes
The ugly truth about Facebook ads
This one weird trick can destroy belly fat without giving up carbs
Notice how each of these examples get the audience riled up and dying to
know what’s on the inside. Heavy use of power words and shamelessly
“teasing” the reader to open.
And before they know it, they’re going down the rabbit hole fast. Clicking to
your website, checking out what you have to offer, and (hopefully) buying your
products or services.
Much of that will depend on the content of your actual email… but I digress.
So after a few weeks… the company placed empty alcohol bottles, cigarette
butts, and other types of “party” litter around the community… to show there
were hooligans in the area.
When the company went to sell their security system again a few weeks later,
the residents magically started buying.
Now… I don’t know the validity behind this story… but it illustrates a true point.
People are much more motivated to move away from pain rather than towards
pleasure.
It’s miles easier to sell a product that’s a solution to a painful problem rather
than an improvement to something.
Like in the security example above… residents didn’t want to buy until they saw
a security issue in the community… which created a buying need.
You need to dig into the pains of your market… or “Twist The Knife” as I like to
say.
Bring the pain to surface level in your subject line and they’ll be motivated to
open and buy.
Here’s 3 examples:
How to take the headache out of writing emails that sell
Read this if you’re sick of an empty calendar
Is this email parasite the reason you’re in the spam box?
Notice how specific these pain points are… and how they’re brought to light in
each example.
In the second, it’s having an empty calendar and suffering from a lack of
customers.
Anyone in your market who has these specific pains will be hyper-responsive to
opening and getting the pain solved.
Quick note though… twisting the knife is only effective if you understand the
specific pains of your market. So spend some time researching, interviewing,
and digging deep. Then focus on one pain in each email.
Also… test calling out your specific market as well (i.e. How course creators can
take the headache out of writing emails that sell)
Here’s 3 examples:
Are you making these 7 deadly email marketing mistakes?
Can you really lose 30lbs on the keto diet?
Do you really need facebook ads to get clients?
Subject lines that ask a question can be wickedly effective when mixed in with
the other two subject line types discussed earlier.
For example… the third subject line was targeting freelancers and consultants
who believed that they needed Facebook ads to land clients.
We challenged that existing belief in the subject line by asking a question… then
went on to explain different free methods they could use instead.
“Audience fatigue”
If you send the same thing repeatedly, your audience starts to glaze over it...
We used to ask question after question but saw diminishing returns over time.
This goes for all of your subject line types (and emails in general).
Let's now dive into 3 additional secrets that can make your subject lines even
more tantalizing...
3 Additional Subject Line Secrets
1. Profit From Pop Culture
Here’s a few subject lines tied in with pop culture that have done tremendously
well for us:
Donald Trump’s copywriting secret
9 sneaky benefits of covid-19 that no one is talking about
7 weird sales lessons you can learn from Tiger King
(PS - anything with the word “Trump” in it will get a ton of opens.)
Now I’m not saying to be a dick about it. You have to know your audience and
tailor it to them.
But using pop culture and controversy in your subject lines is a solid way to get
your emails opened and make more sales.
2. Use contrast
This is a lesson I learned from the great Ben Settle. It goes back to what I said
in the “Ask A Question” section.
Donald Trump is an absolute master at this. I’m not into politics, but he is next
level when it comes to polarizing his audience.
You either love him or despise him. I call him the “Banisher of Indifference”.
And you can’t argue with the results. He’s a multi-billionaire and el presidente
of the USA. How does he do this? Bad tweets aside… he’s a master at
“throwing rocks at his enemies”.
Whether for good or bad he takes a stand for what he believes in, and calls out
anyone who opposes him. I’m not saying to go anywhere near the extremes
that he does. But if you pay attention to what he does rather than all the stupid
stuff he says… you’ll see one of the world’s greatest marketers at work.
Can you see how these choose a side and throw rocks at the enemy? You don’t
have to call an individual or competitor out by name. Just pick a side, have an
opinion about it, and make it known.
It’s a noisier world than ever and if you don’t pick a side, no one will hear you.
5 Simple Steps To Put It All Together
I hope you learned a ton in this report about how to
write subject lines that don't suck.
Be sure to take into account the 3 additional subject line secrets listed above
too.
I’ve broken down some of the mechanics, tactics, and formulas for writing
subject lines that get your emails opened, read, and bought from. If you want
to really fast-track your results, you need to understand your customers on a
deeper level.
Research your market, interview them, dive DEEP into what makes them tick.
When you get to know your market on that deeper level, they’ll practically write
your subject lines and copy for you.
"Huh? Didn't you just spend this entire report telling me why subject lines are so
important? How is this more important than a subject line?"
And eventually, if you focus on building the relationship with your list by
consistently sending good emails, they'll open them just because they see it's
from you.
To render your subject lines irrelevant because your list opens everything that's
attached to your name.
You’ve learned a lot from reading this subject line secrets report.
Although it’s free, please do not underestimate the power of the lessons here.
You’ll be shocked at the results once you start applying it to your business.
And if you’re even slightly keen to see who I am, other resources that might
help you, and how we might perhaps work together… turn the page...
