TARGET
From the questions you have written, pick at least 5 that seem interesting to you and write down brief
responses to each question. Be true to yourself. For processing, upload your answer using the assignment
feature of schoology.
LEARNING AREA
Work on the discussion of the following topics:
Importance of research
Benefits of research
Characteristics of good research
Research process
Ethical principles in research
FINDINGS
Create a one liner explanation of the twelve ethical principles in research. Use the short answer essay feature
of schoology in uploading your answer.
REINFORCEMENT
Write the ethical issues that should be observed in the following research situation.
Research Situation 1: Professor Mower’s resume is long and impressive. She had an endless list of
conference presentations and publications. Upon closer examination you realize that much of the research
seems to be quite similar. One day you met Professor Mower and commented on her impressive body of work.
She said that she never writes anything that doesn’t get as much ink and attention as possible. Among other
things she said that she may change the name of some of her papers to get them into conferences. She also
said that she spends so much time gathering data, she finds that she can be more productive by using the
same data and theory on multiple studies.
Guide Questions:
Do you think the researcher committed any violations in the conduct of research? Why or why not?
If you were the researcher team, what should you do to correct these violations?
CONCLUSIONS
Students will answer recorded assessment number 1 on their schoology account reflected as the first entry for
written works.
