7 Great Examples of Community Services

Social Mobilization

IV. Views, Opinions and Reaction

The Video is all about 7 examples of Community Services where they’ve shown what Mahatma
Gandhi, a civil rights activist, famously remarked, "The best way to discover yourself is to lose yourself
in the service of others." To a certain extent, I believe that while assisting others, one may learn about
themselves in the process. Gandhi's remark argues that to find the core of who we are as individuals, we
must be selfless. Helping others is humbling and allows individuals to see things in a new light.
Additionally, assisting others might lead to you changing elements of yourself for the better. Others may
claim that self-discovery is not dependent on the involvement of others but rather on learning from
oneself; nonetheless, humans spend their lives under the influence of others, and the bulk of what they
know is taught to them by others.

Although the journey of self-discovery is lengthy and frequently tough, assisting others is one of
the finest ways to learn more about yourself. Individuals are often oblivious of the impact that other
people may have on their self-discovery path.

When you serve others, you learn about yourself as well. Consider some of the volunteer
activities in which you may be active. What are the attributes required to participate in that activity? If
you work in a soup kitchen, you must be pleasant to the clients and willing to do hard work such as
preparing the large meal or cleaning up afterward; you must learn compassion for the clients who find
themselves in the food line every night, and you must tap into your humility and gratitude because you
are most likely from a better economic situation than the clients. The experience entails more than simply
"turning up" to work.

Social Mobilization

Social mobilization is the first stage in community building for post-conflict and catastrophe
recovery, according to the video presentation. It enables people to think about and comprehend their
condition, as well as plan and start action for their own rehabilitation via their own initiative and
inventiveness.

Communities are motivated to engage and participate in processes, institutions, and activities
aimed at achieving a shared objective of poverty alleviation; Use bi-directional communication to
enlighten and empower groups through creating human capacity in communities to combat poverty and
illness; Creates and expands the need for poverty-reduction intervention services; Greater self-awareness
and social consciousness converts increased demand into action to access available basic social services
(such as health, education, food security, social support, and so on), which are critical factors in poverty
alleviation; and provides a sense of ownership and self-motivation for community actions.

The goal of social marketing is to impact social and health habits. We may learn how to
successfully encourage, involve, and empower communities to improve their health by analyzing prior
triumphs and failures.
