Day 2:
Online Selling vs. Traditional Selling
As the Pandemic continues, different ways of earning and raising money for
survival spread out and practiced by people, especially Filipinos. One of those is the
shifting of business from traditional ones to online, since almost all transactions are
done online.
In terms of their capital or initial investment, it is undoubtedly online selling where
you can save more. It is estimated that by 5,000 pesos, you can start your traditional
business while for online, around 2,000 pesos is needed to start your own business.
Relatively, for renting of space, it is more advantageous for online selling since
there is no physical store needed while for traditional, different permits and certifications
are needed. Different marketing tools are also used by both selling techniques.
Recently, physical stores or traditional selling also reaches people online, especially the
food chains.
Furthermore, in logistics, it is both hassle for two techniques, especially for island
places where it is separated by sea. It is more advantageous for traditional selling since
the customer where the ones going to the store, while for online selling, delivery
services are a must since there is no physical store where the customers are going.
It seems like the online businesses increase their competitions both of them have
numerous competitions and it depends on the location, the demands, number of
possible customers. In terms of traffic, since we are in the middle of pandemic, both of
them experience this struggle. When there is enhanced community quarantine, the
supply of stocks pause.
When a physical business starts to get successful, there are franchises that you
can see and found in different places. Just because there is no physical franchises that
you can see for online businesses doesn’t mean they do not expand, their delivery
expansion are occurring as an online business becomes more successful, in here both
do expand but online selling can expand more.
All in all both online selling and traditional selling provides variety of opportunities
in each aspect, and a disadvantage, a careful analysis and consideration must be done
on which one you will choose basing on the factors affecting it.
Day 3:
Traditional vs. Online Education
“Learning continues”, as Department of Education continues to pursue students
to study, amidst of the global crisis, alternative ways of teaching and learning has been
provided and Filipinos shifted and adjust to this “new normal”. In this situation, one
cannot stop himself comparing and analyzing the pros and cons of both education.
We used to wake up early and having our alarm clock activated every morning,
afraid that we might get late to school during traditional education. A night before class
days, you tend to prepare your well-ironed uniforms and prepare school identification
cards because the guard will not allow you to enter school if you don’t wear it. We are
also used to hear the buzzer and school bells when it is time to go to the ground for flag
ceremony. We can also remember ourselves falling in line, have chitchats with you
friends and laugh for new trends and issues on social media.
In addition, even though sometimes you don’t feel like listening to your teacher,
you still learn and the vibes and ambiance is for learning inside the four corners of
classroom. There are also some subjects where the teacher needs to demonstrate the
topics, and there are tasks that should be done by performance, for application and
laboratories which can successfully be done during face-to-face classes. By this, you
can really learn in simple things and the teacher is hands on to students. But
sometimes, the on the spot recitation and quiz makes our heart jump out of our chest.
Moreover, students have active social life. They can meet friends, or in contrary,
make enemies. When the hard quiz is done, students make groups to discuss about the
quiz and sometimes, compare their answers. Every person seek support when they
have gone through a difficult tests. When they found people with same answer with
them, to be happy because they have “verified” their answer. Sometimes, your
camaraderie supports you when you have a crush in the school, or when someone
confesses their “puppy love” to you.
These are the moments we reminisce when we are still in traditional education. It
is kind of missing, as we wonder when it will happen again. On the other hand, things
became different as we face this health crisis that is fatal, resulting to shifting to “new
normal”, which the education system implements today.
Unlike in face-to-face classes, in online education, we have our own pace, we
can perform things according to our availability of time. We wake up early, if there is
class via google meet or zoom, or other meeting platform but if we chose asynchronous
style, you wake up on your own time management. This is very risky since it is new to
us, Filipinos and students are still in their young minds, to discipline themselves
individually. We don’t have to iron our clothes since the teacher will not require the
students to wear it. The school ID is not necessary, just the appearance in open
cameras and a “present” call when the teacher checks the attendance. No more buzzer
from schools but the alarm clock is still there. No more falling in line for flag ceremony,
instead, everything is done by watching.
The ambiance is home-based. Bedrooms and study rooms are supposed to be
relaxing but the stress in the school seems to be passed in the four corners of your
personal rooms, which is intended to be relaxing one. Pressure is still there, in exams,
because of time limits, especially when the difficulty is still the same with physical
classes. As for performance, it is now recorded and must be submitted in either social
media platforms or as private message for teachers. It is very different because of many
changes.
As for social changes, it’s now far from the typical consultation because some
students do not have stable connection, hence cannot talk to them properly, and once
they’re done, you cannot talk to them long unlike before. It is saddening because it
really affected social aspect that much, and the tendency is to show our digital self
which is very far from the physical and actual self when we are still in traditional
education. Mental health is also affected here as we lost social aspect, the comfort for
stresses in schools are also gone, it is decreasing.
In conclusion, there are pros and cons on both traditional and online classes, not
everything is bad about online classes, though it made a big impact on us, students. It is
very understandable that shifting to this new normal is hard especially we are shocked,
but this is not a valid reason for us to close our minds to the possible good things
brought by this pandemic, by online education.
Day 4:
Childhood vs. Adulthood
There are two main stages in life, childhood and adulthood and it is undoubtedly
possible for us to gone through, even you. We also hear the famous lines “Tumatanda
ka na talaga”, and “Ang bata-bata mo pa” but when you enter adolescent stage, you’ll
wonder where you belong. Is it in between? Kidding aside, how can we really
distinguish if you’re entering adulthood or you’re still in childhood?
When you are in your childhood days, you do not have to worry about many
things, you worry more on plays, past time stuffs, and they are so dependent on adults.
They really rely on their guardians and parents. On the other hand, the adult ones are
not contented with just being able to do one thing, as long as there are still unfinished
business left. They tend to be independent, although some are still dependent, but most
of the adults stand on their own.
In terms of their life style, children always want to play, do things which they
desire. Playing, watching, reading, depending on what they want to do, eat what they
feel to eat. That is why it is hard to feed them vegetables, when they got sick, it takes so
much time before you let them drink their medicine. On the contrary, adulthood is linked
in the word “maturity”. Adults tend to think first before doing and deciding on things.
They think first of the consequences on the things they’ll about to do, and do it carefully.
In here you also think of others. You do things not because of desires, but because it is
a must. Most of the times, you are expected to be morally upright.
People who are in their childhood and adulthood both experience challenges in
life. Sometimes, it differs on the bearing, to intensity and the responses. Both of them
also are inevitable in one’s person, everyone will still experience these stages as life
goes on. Though adulthood is the end point in one’s life, person under that stage still
grow, just as how child in their childhood. Adults can still make their memories, the
unforgettable ones like what we do in our childhood days. Also both of them are
experienced by all living things.
In conclusion, these 2 stages in life plays important role on how we hone our
personality. Not because we are in adulthood, there is no chance for us to grow as an
individual, not because we are in our childhood days, we are not allowed to think
carefully on our actions. We can still have fun as an adult, we should behave as a child.
When a person was raised kindly, he/she can be the best that he/she can be.
Task 3:
Comparison Essay
High School Students and University Students

They say “High School is the best years of our lives”, as a student, I
cannot decide on this. I cannot make conclusions since I haven’t finish both, but both
levels can be compared. This is to prove if it is indeed that high school is the best years
of our lives, as a student. As we continue in this writing, it can also mean as reference
for us students, which can also serve as a preview of life as a professional.
It can be seen here that during high school days, students are closer to their
teachers. It is because teachers are more focused on their students, as much as
possible, they try to know and memorize their names, even though there are hundreds
of them. Meanwhile professors in college are more strict, you can’t be that friendly as
you are in high school because the professor will surely base on your performance as a
student. There are also times in high school where you are alone, but in a university,
you cannot be an island, you need friends. You tend to study more in college, unlike in
high school where you have time to relax.
In conclusion, it really depends on a person if which years are the best.
Sometimes it can be high school, sometimes it is being a university student, and
sometimes it can be both. There are so much more provided in one’s life and it depends
on your perception, both sides provide great opportunities.
