INTRO

Hello everyone! I am Teacher Jhoy P. Villa, of the Claveria Rural

and Vocational School. I just want to passionately welcome and thank you
for joining us today. I am indeed glad that you`re with us because this
podcast is specially designed for you.
I am certain that part of your childhood is the movie series,
Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, where you became familiar with Raphael,
Leonardo, Donatello and Michael Angelo. You also believed with them
when they say, “Stay True to Your Values.”
Battle after battle, these turtles never question the value of fighting
evil and they are very conscious of what is right and what is wrong. But
they are just fictional turtles, we are humans, don’t you think we should do
better? These turtles never exist in reality but left us with life long lessons,
right?

PRESENTATION
I presented that for I want you guys that after this podcast episode
you will be able to identify Real and Make – Believe character, place,
event or a story Lets start. . .

DISCUSSION
When can we say that a certain character, event and a place are
real? Identifying real images suggests that there are basis of its existence,
they are seen, felt, smelled, heard and even tasted. Real are facts that can
be proven and they can be experienced or witnessed by a person. Take the
turtle as an example, you have seen many turtles I know that. The fact is,
turtles are classified as reptiles characterized by a special cartilaginous
shell developed from their ribs and acting as a shield.
How about make believe? Identifying make-believe character, event,
place or story means believing or knowing that they are not real and not
true because they are not seen, felt, smelled, heard nor tasted. They are but
products of imagination. They are non-fact and difficult to prove.
Take Michael Angelo of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.
It is a make-believe character for he is one of the four fictional superhero
anthropomorphic mutant turtles. Its fictional, meaning its not real.

SKILL ENHANCEMENT
Focus on the following examples for Real or Fact. . .ABS CBN
shutdown is a fact, it is real for the lower house did not approve the
renewal of franchise. Another example is the spread of COVID 19. The
government thru the Department of Health announced that as of July 15
we have 122, 387 cases. That is another fact. This spread of COVID 19
resulted to another real which is the Distance Learning and because one of
the modalities in distance learning is online, you will soon have your
Smart Phone. . .and you will say, Samsung A50 is real.
I know you also have examples of real in mind but this time lets have
examples of make believe . . .Your all time favorite superheroes like
Captain Barbel, Lastikman, Darna and their nemesis in their movies are
products of the imagination of the writers or authors. The popular deity
Mariang Makiling of Mt. Makiling is also a fictional character, of course
you know that long before.
In the Philippines we also have stories about mermaids and mermen
whom are guardians of the bodies of water. Yes we have Dyesebel and
company but then again, they are just make believe characters.
In facebook, people also do some digital alterations to photos of
animals. The snake with multiple heads, a man with a body of a reptile,
these are but make believe photos conditioning your minds that they live
but in reality they never exist. I know you have the value of discernment,
hence you can easily identify make believe characters, events, place or
even story.
Lets have another example, President Duterte signed the Anti
Terrorism Act of 2020, that is a fact for Republic Act No. 11479 known
as the Anti –Terrorism act of 2020 was signed last July 3, 2020 and
effectively replacing the Human Security Act 2007 on July 18, 2020. . .
Since there was no one around, my pet bird open the main door. . .
this is of course an example of non fact, a bird can`t open a door,
everybody knows that. . .
Rio Grande de Cagayan or Cagayan River is the longest and largest
river in the Philippines, this a fact. It has a total length of approximately
505 kilometers and a drainage basin covering an area of 27, 753 square
kilometers.
The next example would be, Genesis cried a thousand river last night
for he broke up with his girlfriend. Oh common, you can cry but not as
plenty as the river, this is not a fact.

WRAP-UP
With the given examples, I am sure that you can now identify and
perhaps differentiate real and make-believe. Real characters, events, place
and stories are those that exist or present in the real world and not just
merely products of imagination. Make-believe on the other hand are
created by the mind and which do not exist in reality. They are developed
to entertain people’s eyes and mind.
For you guys to understand better these two concepts, lets try to
differentiate Real from Make-believe. . . is something that exists or has
occurred or has been proven correct. On the other hand, make-believe or
non-fact is not true or provable; opinion or falsehood.
Note that in real, it says there that it has been proven correct. Which
means believable. . .in make believe, we have the words. . .opinion and
falsehood, that already mean unbelievable.
