SCARLET MACAW

One word that springs into my mind on this particular, bird breed is beautiful. Adorned by silky blue, red
and yellow feathers, it's regarded as one of the most beautiful parrots in the world, number one actually
and included in the top ten category of being the most breath taking birds.

NATURAL HABITAT

This bird is mostly found in Eastern Mexico, Peruvian Anazon, Colombia, Bolivia and Brazil. In the wild its
mostly solitary but if it find a mate you will find them soaring above the green thicket of forest trees in
pairs.

PROVISION OF A HABITAT AT YOUR HOME

The Scarlet Macaw is about 81cm in size has an average weight of 1kg with a wing span of 1m.If you live

of 1 inch to 1.5 inches. This should provide more space for the bird to wobble about. If you have a

In the wild it mostly feeds on insects, larvae, snails, bugs and foliage. In addition to this diet it feeds on

on the packages and the percentage of proteins in th

e pellets, all in all , there should contain all the nutrients in their correct proportions. These birds need a
high protein intake. At least 80% pellets and 20% fruits such as pears, apples, plums, cherries, grapes,
papayas, mangoes, oranges, bananas, and berries are a delicious treat.Vegetables, such as carrots,
sweet potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and dark leafy greens ate good fibre.

BEHAVIOUR OF THE SCARLET MACAW

The bird is adept to human speech, learns a few words but not the most talkative of the parrot species
with just harsh "rrrahhh" vocalization in the wild it can be heard several miles. So in your home you have
to get used to it especially when it's extremely happy or even agitated. Sometimes it can attack new
guests often to see their reaction, it learns it can control people and it becomes a game. To avoid these
situations you need to teach your Scarlet Macaw early, using treats as a reward for good behavior until
that desired behavior is reinforced in them.
